Teema: A new Tournament request
I like Triple Gammon, a great new refreshing type of tournament. That gave me another idea for any game that uses highest points to win (like Froglet, Assimilation and Mancala, or even Anti Backgammon):

Round Robin, two standard games per player:
Instead of scoring one point, players score points equal to the outcome of te game. E.g if a Mancala game ends in 30-18, player A scores 30 points to his total and player B scores 18. BKR resolution as normal. If all games are finished, count all points scored in all matches, highest wins.

This way of playing destroys Mancala and Cheversi advantage, since every player is White AND Black against every other player, trying to score as most points as possible.

joshi tm: But what to do with timeouts, resignations? Also in triple gammon tournament one might help someone to win by resigning earlier in a lost position, he doesn't lose more this way but he helps the opponent, who might be in direct competition with other player, gaining advantage this way.

Harassed: Yep, that stinks. Also the same way for TG. A timed out game causes the player removed from the tournament. And for resignations, mmm, what about... Players can't resign? (also that's a severe warning, so that should be in 72 pixel size letters described in the FAQ section)

joshi tm: Not allowing players to resign is silly. What point does it serve? Sure, if I resign in a gammon position while I could have played on and lose for one point, I'd help my opponent. But if I play chess and I let my opponent take my queen, I'm helping him as well. And if I play bad moves in backgammon, I help my opponent as well. Do you want to forbid that as well? Besides, what is the penalty of resigning going to be? What happens if the person who is not allowed to resign simply won't move in the game anymore? Or worse, starts moving just before timeout, dragging the game on forever? That hurts everyone, delaying the finish of the tournament.
