El Cid: Wouldn't be possible with a doubling cube if you think about it. :)

Even # of games isn't really a good option, since you can play for the draw late in a series if ahead, but not with this option.

How about speeding up tournaments by starting the next round as soon as the contestants are known, this would be far more effective IMO.
