Not sure if there is a practical way to do this. Maybe some feedback...

Since in many games white has a big advantage, is there a way to make seperate ratings for games played as black and as white? I havent looked, but would bet that some people use playing white against unknowing opponents as a way to boost their ratings.

How about when we choose to "play later" the game does not keep coming back to the top of our lists? (unless there is already a way to achieve this?)

How can you boost a rating if you keep beating someone who never wins?

I agree Grenv. If you want to help someone who cant afford a membership, paying for them to become a member is not the way to go. There is plenty for a poor. down and out person to do here for free. Better to send them a check for health coverage, IMO.

But if thats what someone wants to do with their money..... so be it.

Fencer....
Please list all the aliases(sp?) (Previous names) people have used on this site, on our profile page.

I get so confused when some new name shows up on my friends list and I dont know (remember) who they were.
It would be helpful to refer to their profile to find out who they used to be.

Maybe a link where it shows your won lost record against a player, that shows your notes for that person in that game type.

2. November 2004, 03:25:29
Czuch
It would be nice to be able to write notes about players and their game habits where they could be kept in a file that could be accessed anytime, not just during a game. If you were to be in a match with someone, you could just pull up their name and see any notes you had on them
.

LOL! I have never used that feature :)
Pretty cool!
Is that description listed anywhere else,or accessable anywhere else? It seems it would take up a lot of space if you had a complete game playing description for all of your friends.

I just found a discussion board that still has the option to add it to you list of favorites . I thought this option was done away with? Or is it only for DBs from a fellowship that work like that?

I would like to see a return of the ability to have a db on a favorites list, as sometimes I want to go to a db to post a new message when there are currently no new messages waiting to be read, and I have to go to the fellowship first to get to the db.

As long as it stays compatable with WebTV :)

I think a good idea would be to have a check box beside each waiting game, so we could go through all the waiting games and check the ones we wanted to accept, and then be prompted to accept each one of them... This would eliminate the hasstle of going back through all the games each time we have accepted one, and starting all over again.

12. September 2004, 17:30:16

No... I still dont get your point. If my 'your turn to move' box is empty (I have no games to play) how does that slow down games? lso if I do have games to play, it would be quicker if I dont have to wade through tournaments to find out if they are full or not.

It doesnt have to be an indicator anyway.... it should not even be listed on the 'tournaments waiting to sign up' page at all.

Emne: Re: Autopass
That isnt really aotopass is it Brian? It would technically still be your turn if you got a hit, and wouldnt need to be passed back to you... Sounds like it could be a fun variation. It could even be done with dark boats or any of them for that matter, and would definitly help speed up the game :)

11. September 2004, 22:49:47
Czuch
Or... maybe they should not even still be listed under games waiting to sign upanymore, since they are already full. Maybe have them listed under games waiting to start or the like?

When browsing the tournaments that are waiting to be signed up for, it would be nice to have them marked when they are already full. Instead we have to go through two seperate links, only to find out that it is already full. :)

Emne: Re: IM
Sorry...I wasnt really asking your opinion.... I will assume that all people I am playing are adults, until I find out otherwise. If they have a picture with a beautiful smile, I will feel free to coment on it, if I am so inclined. If the picture is not really them, oh well, was only commenting on the picture anyway. I am not really hitting on anyone here anyway, I mean you are right, why would I do that when I will never know who am truely dealing with, what they look like , what their true personality is, or if they are even a female or not. Thats what makes the internet so great. I can be anyone I want to be, and so can they. Its harmless fun to flirt, or whatever conversation that is enjoyable. You could be a 90 year old woman, with a picture of yourself at 21. You may get a kick out of me flrting with you, something you havent enjoyed in a long time. It hurts no one to do that. You think I am gonna send you an airline ticket to come visit me? LOL

Look it was just a suggestion that felt would be good. Others think it would atract more weirdos or whatever, I ay it would be a way to discover the weirdos. It doesnt matter. If someone doesnt like me calling their smile cute, well, thwey can tell me to stop talking to them or dont play with me anymore....

Emne: Re: IM
Are you kidding me? One cant even tell the difference between some 14 year olds and a 22 year old in person these days, it is a lot harder on the internet. Also, like I said, if they (minors) were marked, there would be no mistake, and as soon as one inappropiate comment they would be removed from the site, at least, and/ or reported to the authorities.

Is this the conversation you want me to have? (suppose it is a minor) Hi. Thanks for playing.... How old are you anyway.... No problem, I love this site , I am 20, why do you ask?... No reason, I think you have a great smile, is that really a picture of you? etc....

Emne: Re: Harley...
I think that if the parents are monitoring or if a minor is targeted by someone who knows they are in contact with a minor, that it would be easy for Fencer to report this to the authorities, and have this person tracked down through their computer and arrested. If there is no way to tell who is a minor, then there is no crime. For example, I have had people want to contact me on a personal basis, for me to give out a phone number or address etc... I have told these people my age, but I could easily be lying. Parents cannot monitor all the private conversations their child has during a game. and as i said before, if I do not know the age there is no offense anyway. But if I know you are are minor and ask for your phone number etc.... it would be easy to track me down and have at least removed from the site.

How did you know I was talking about you?

Emne: Heres one I havent seen before...
Could minors (a member under 18 years old) have their monikers in a different color, or somehow noted? I think there are many reasons it would be favorable to know when you are playing with, and talking to a minor. There are many things which are acceptable behavior among adults, that is unacceptable between an adult and a minor. What made me think of this... I am playing someone with a very cute smile in her picture, I was going to comment in a flirty kida way, but then I wasnt quite able to tell how old this person looked. I do not want to say something like "hey sexy, nice smile" to a minor. Also, I can anticipate a situation where a minor will pretend to be an adult in their conversations, and that would cause one to say something which might be inappropriate if said to a minor ie swear words.

I know there is no way to prove who is a minor, if they lie to you when they sign up as members....but the majority of minors have parents who watch over their internet use, and I would guess that those minors would be forced to admit their age category (minor or adult)

couple of questions BBW....
You said that after each pass the person got another move, or turn... would they then be required to finish their turn, or would their time limit start again, allowing 2 more days or whatever to make the next move? Also, someone would not have to sit there and pass for a month would they? If they were interested in a faster game they could pass their turn right away, without waiting a month or whatever limit the game was. Maybe I am misundersatnding that point...

28. August 2004, 18:15:13
Czuch
I dont understand the 'no chat' thing with auto pass. It seems like for the player who keeps moving it would be the same as taking one turn, they would be forced to continue playing until the opponent could move, no different than a single move, with no interuption in chatting ability.

It does happen, believe me, I know LOL

But it is not a bad thing....if you are not wanted, for whatever reason, why would you want to be there anyway? It is somewhat irritating to be given a lame, unfounded excuse for being kicked out, when like Stevie said, there is no need to justify it anyway. IMO, it would be more reasonable to simply say "I dont want you here anymore" than to make up some lame, unfounded reason, or excuse.... like " I have no choice, I dont really want to do this, but for the overall good, I feel it is my resposibility" what a waste of breath....LOL

Emne: Re: Caissus and Redsales
Why would you lose your archived games just because someone else left the site or had their name removed for inactivity?

I wonder if it doesnt have more to do with Fencer being able to boast 10,500 players, instead of a lower total if inactive accounts were deleted. There are even some who have more than one account, and are only allowed to play one. I think those accounts, especially, should be removed

Emne: Re: opponets lists in backgammon
That is already possible... Simply go to the head of your games waiting to play, and click on the game time remaining column. It should orgainize all your games by the time remaining before a time out. If the order is from longest to shortest, just click the link again and it will switch to the shortest firsat.

If you want just your backgammon games, you gan play and go to more games of this type, which will take you to the next backgammon game that is closest to timing out :)

Emne: Re: Statistics page
It might be cool, but I am not sure if it actually tells us anything about the quality of the players.

For example, I looked at Princess Kammy (since she was nuber 50 on the list) She has a total of 150 win, and 1057 losses.

What am I missing here?

I cant remember if this has been brought up lately, but since Fencer has been in an accomadating mood lately, here goes again :)

I am trying to play my games with opponents who are online, and there is no easy way. I can think of several different ways to help me out. Can something be implimented?

Thanx :)

Zero points would be correct in a 3 wins match for a draw, since they would not count towards a win.
