This was mentioned back in 2004 by rod03801 (also variously by other since then)

We must be due some more boat variants

I posted a link on here the other day, which had many variations, BUT i think the easiest for Fencer to code would be to have a Boat Plus version where they can be placed diagonal, with maybe an even slighlty larger board 12x12 or 13x13

nabla: During Boats a doubling cube... interesting. Well, the backgammon scoring system has also a condition factor, so the BB scoring will be 1 point for each boat left times the Doubling Cube?
