Snoopy: ah but Snoopy...it is a well known fact that most unemployed bludgers DON'T want to work,...why should they, they are given everything...enough money for smokes, grog, internet, and a bit left over for food...why work. As long as the kids are in school they can drink themselves to death, take drugs and generally not want to improve their lives at all. Take their council flats/homes off them and MAKE them work...things would fast change

I stand corrected of course HAHAHAHAHA

The hardest thing to do in heavy traffic is to pull over to answer a phone and it has been found that less than 2% of people use their phone (hand -held) while driving.

I'm surprised at the 2% as you see it happening all the time....young girls seem to be the worst, with tradies a good second.

Baby left to die for being 'too young'

NEWS.com.au

9 September 2009

A DEVASTATED mother claims doctors refused to treat her pre-mature baby because it was born two days early.

A DEVASTATED mother claims doctors refused to treat her premature baby because it was born two days early.

The tiny boy from the UK - born 21 weeks and five days into her pregnancy - died just two hours after being born, The Daily Mail reports.

Sarah Capewell, who has suffered five miscarriages previously, said she went into early labour and was told her newborn would be dead once delivered.

But after discovering her son, Jayden, had a strong heart beat and was moving his arms and legs, she called doctors and begged them to help.

Ms Capewell said doctors refused, saying medical guidelines state that "babies born before 22 weeks are not viable and are not to be helped".

She claims doctors at James Paget Hospital in Norfolktold told her that they would have tried to save the baby if he had been born two days later, at 22 weeks.

According to the Daily Mail, she told one paediatrician, "You have got to help", only for the man to respond: "No we don't."

"When I went into labour I was told he would be born dead, disabled and his skin would most likely be peeling off, in actual fact he was perfect," she wrote on her website Justice for Jayden.

"As you can see from his pic he was born alive, he was responsive and lived without help for nearly 2 hours.

"Reguardless of this doctors refused to come and see him let alone consider helping him."

A hospital official said it not t blame for setting the nation's guidelines and "like other acute hospitals, we follow national guidance".

Ms Capewell is now campaigning to make the Government to change the law.

"This is down to government legislation stating that babies born before 22 weeks are not viable and are not to be helped," she said.

"Now I'm asking for your help in changing legislation so other families don't have to suffer unnessisarily."

(V): where did you get the bit about hedgehogs "learning" not to crawl into a ball? They only turn themselves into a ball if they are threatened, how do they know a car is a threat? and why hasnt it happened in NZ...they do have cars there you know. LOL

CCP*****Hedgehogs are a powerful form of pest control. A single hedgehog can keep an average garden free of pests by eating up to 200 grams of insects each night. It is common throughout the United Kingdom to see people attempting to lure hedgehogs into their gardens with treats and hedgehog-sized holes in their fences.[citation needed]

One problem with using hedgehogs for garden pest control is the use of chemical insecticide. While the hedgehog is large enough to resist most insecticides, it cannot withstand them if it eats many insects which have become full of the poison. This causes many hedgehog deaths where pet hedgehogs eat contaminated bugs within the house.

In areas where hedgehogs have been introduced, such as New Zealand and the islands of Scotland, the hedgehog itself has become a pest. In New Zealand it causes immense damage to native species including insects, snails, lizards and ground-nesting birds, particularly shore birds. As with many introduced animals, it lacks natural predators. With overpopulation, it kills off more insects than initially intended and expands its diet to include things such as snails, worms, and the eggs of wading birds.

Correcting overpopulation is troublesome itself. Attempts to eliminate hedgehogs from bird colonies on the Scottish islands of North Uist and Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides were met with international outrage. Eradication began in 2003 with 690 hedgehogs being killed. Animal welfare groups attempted rescues to save the hedgehogs. By 2007, legal injunctions against the killing of hedgehogs were put in place. In 2008, the elimination process was changed from killing the hedgehogs to trapping them and releasing on the mainland.

it has just been announced that the Govt. is considering raising the Medicare contribution to 2.5% to try and improve on waiting lists etc. They are also going on about having to wait in emergency departments for anything up to 12 hours....now that is bad. How can that be improved upon when they won't employ more nurses, who by the way....over here aren't employed by the hospital boards, they come under a "nursing pool"

In Australia EVERY working man, woman pay 1.5% of their earnings. It is called Medicare. Our system is shocking and the only way is to go private.
Over a month ago I had cause to go to a Dr. No problem getting an appointment to see him but he was so over worked I had to wait an hour to get to see him...my visit wasnt good news and I had to have a day surgery procedure done. He gave me a referring letter to a PRIVATE specialist and also sent a referral to the specialist in the local hospital. I had to wait 3 weeks to see the specialist, went on the tuesday and was in hospital on the thursday....$2500 later my problem was fixed. 3 days after my op I got the appointment to see the PUBLIC specialist...but that wasnt for another month. I could have gotten the same procedure done at no cost but I would have been a damn site sicker by then.

AD is right when he says there are waiting lists to go on waiting lists LOL....Jules I don't think your system is any better than it is here. My GF is a pom now living in Australia and she reckons the health system there is terrible. She was living/working on the outskirts of London.
