most rules are ok though. game time is a rule. why have it now? no one is answering that

22. October 2004, 20:07:41
grenv
and in the quick message answering club :)

22. October 2004, 20:07:28
grenv
indeed i am (in quick players club).

I am not losing sleep over it, just bringing up the point that these rules can easily be abused.

22. October 2004, 20:05:26
harley
Nobody is dictating to you. The rules have been set, you have to learn to live with them.

grenv, you seem to have a genuine problem with this. It seems you've already contacted the person who is holding your games up, I'm sorry but if they won't move any faster there isn't much you can do except try to avoid these people in the future.
Are you in the Quick players club? The people there generally move fast.

22. October 2004, 20:03:19
Stevie
ditto. why take on more games. then struggle to keep up, or spend all day on here?
Some of it is due to players taking on more than they can handle too

22. October 2004, 20:01:57
grenv
I only like to play a few games at a time, I'm not smart enought to play 123527 games at once, so I do notice.

22. October 2004, 19:59:42
Stevie
I pay to enjoy the site, not have dictators.
Thats what is happening. Im being dictated to by morons/ awkward buggers etc etc how my games go.

22. October 2004, 19:57:32
harley
Its really hurting you? I really find this hard to understand. I don't even look at games that isn't my turn. They'll move when they're ready, and I have plenty of games to keep me going until they do move. How can it hurt that they take their time moving?

22. October 2004, 19:56:47
coan.net
Steve - you can keep on complaing about an option which is abused by a few, but the truth is that it can help the majority. If we get rid of everything that can be abused by a few, then why even have a game site if people are just going to abuse it? Maybe we should just get rid of BrainKing.com?

22. October 2004, 19:54:36
Stevie
stop the crap BBW.

22. October 2004, 19:53:05
coan.net
It's only hurting you if you let it bother you.

22. October 2004, 19:52:20
Stevie
BBW its hurting us

22. October 2004, 19:50:29
coan.net
grenv - well he is only hurting himself - if you have a choice to lose now or lose later, it is much beter for your ratings to lose now, then to wait until later. (At least that is what I have been told - have not done the math yet) :-)

22. October 2004, 19:49:04

Subject: But don't they lose more points
the higher their rating is, when they lose?

22. October 2004, 19:47:55
grenv
I am playing one person who stopped moving in games he is losing. He admitted later that he is trying to move his rating up as high as possible.

This is an example of how these vacations can be abused. In my opinion there are too many as it is.

22. October 2004, 19:47:13
Stevie
no Harley, they are hurting me and others

22. October 2004, 19:46:42
Stevie
I know this, but setting a vacation is at least doing things properly and obviously.
Why should I wait 30 days on a 2 day game, just cos someone hasnt come back for a while? I still say, cos its an emergency thing, there should be a limit of 2 auto extensions at most.

22. October 2004, 19:46:03
harley
Exactly, so they will run out of vacatin days, and they are only hurting themselves really. if they use all their days as emergency auto-vacations, they won't have any left if they actually want to go away for a few days!

22. October 2004, 19:43:22
coan.net
But Stevie - if they did not have the auto vacation set up, they could as easly set the days manually.

It's not like the system adds more vacation days, just uses the ones currently given to all users.

22. October 2004, 19:41:09
Stevie
To avoid these players means you lose out though. You have to pick and choose tournies etc.
I say again...WHAT IS THE USE OF A GAME TIME LIMIT NOW????????
If it is set to auto, then they will just move when they feel like it, not within times. Its just another nail if you ask me

22. October 2004, 19:38:38
harley
I think BBW's example was an extreme circumstance, but it gives the idea of the kind of thing that can happen. Life happens, you might be called away for a couple of days to help with an ill friend or relative. You might have computer problems. Anything may happen. I know of more than a few occasions where people have asked Fencer to add vacation days on somebody's behalf because they are unable to get to the PC. I have asked Fencer to this and I know I'm not the only one. As BBW says, ANY system is open for abuse, and all you can do is avoid these players.

22. October 2004, 19:21:19
Stevie
I mean in those circumstances, who cares if games time out??
Its bad enough waiting for the likes of yourself and kevin amoungst many, who wait till last day to move...just because you can...just for the auto thing to act also. What is tghe use for having game time limits now??? what a crock

22. October 2004, 18:31:05
coan.net
exactly Stevie - and with auto vacations set, it will be a welcome result once things do settle down that when they get back on-line, their games will still be here waiting for them.

mclaudio, sorry what u r going through with Klokan. I have been saying for over 2 months that this person has been tring to win games by upsetting people so they will resign their games with them. In AMENTTY board we have a boat tourney that has been going for some time. And this person is the only 1 left to play any of the games. But said my peace about them again so off to my corner I go. TYVM for ur time every1.
:o{P

But then in those circumnstances I would say "to hell with the internet..family is important"

22. October 2004, 17:43:22
coan.net
I like the idea of auto vacations since they can be great when emergencies arrise. Brothers in the hostpital, wife goes into labor, house burns down and takes computer with it, etc.... When things like this comes up, it is nice to not have to think "oh no, I beter got to an internet game site and set vacations".

Of course some users will abuse it, but people also abused the last way also - so I like this new feature.

22. October 2004, 17:34:28
grenv
This auto vacation is a little silly. What are we protecting people from? This is a game site not internet banking. I think it's more important that games be completed than people are saved from timing out. If you can't keep up play fewer games or set up a deliverate vacation.

just my 2c

i, too, have a bunch of games with Klokan and he hasnt timed out.. thats his perogative to use the amount of time alotted. :o)

Because they probably have one of their vacation days added when a time-out is due. I don't think pawns have this feature.

Sometimes new members will not be able to figure how to sign up, due to the player/s explaining it to them can't type in a manner that is readable anyways LOL

Thats what typing has to do with it

I think your personal attacks need to be deleted. And this board is for PUBLIC reading. Just to clear that up.

What does typing have to do with talking on a disscussion board about tournaments again this board is for fencers reading and you wasting his time.

Excuse me? I read it all very carefully. Have to, the way some people type.. I honestly don't understand what is so difficult about the signing up process. Very simple and straightforward procedure.

What is so difficult about signing up for a fellowship team??????? If you are on someone else's team, it clearly tells you which one you are on.
I don't understand what you are complaining about..

Subject: Kevins answer
Yes you are right Kevin, but does that explain why it can't be set that way for certain individuals that seem to have problems signing on a team,i've had unpresidented complaints about how to sign up for a fellowship team.I also understand that to modify that issue it would lock your fellowship into just that team. Any suggestions to providing a solution to the issue at hand.
