So no Brainking 3 as promised Fencer?

I enter with just brainking.com too, so I think the problem must have something to do with locality. That seems to be the common denominator. I tried brainking.com/pt to see what the "pt" does... the language on the login page is in portuguese. Oh well, it never hurts to experiment.

Like Justaminute, Resher and Aganju, I too am not having any kind of problems when accessing the site in the past few... weeks. Sometime ago, someone suggested it had to do with the URL it is used to enter the site, i'm using brainking.com/pt (no "www"), maybe it could help.

Two points I want to make. One, the problem doesn't originate in Fencers backyard even though it affects the people playing there. And two, the "customer is always right" began years ago at a large department store as a promotional gimmick. It caught on with customers everywhere (no surprise) and quickly became a sort of proverb, often quoted by (again, no surprise) unhappy customers. It's not a rule of any sort, and originally it only meant to convey how eager that particular department store was to please their customers. In reality no one really believes the customer is always right, and Fencer can hardly be held responsible for servers not under his control. So let's all get real, okay? I don't like taking half a day to make two moves but hey, stuff happens.

Or, the gremlins are doing it... that seems to be the most reasonable explanation.

"The customer is always right" is a liberal philosophy whose originator should have been shot.

I am a frequent player whose patience is sometimes tested. But I say don't piss Fencer off too bad or he might say screw it and shut the site down.:-)

I actually believe it is clear to the majority of the people reading this what the one who decides what his priorities are is trying to say.

Accept BugKing or leave it. It is as simple as that…

crosseyed: Crosseyed, the point he is making (and I say that witout any irony) is *we are not his customers*.
We are just some guys he let's play in his backyard for nickels because he happens to have it and we are willing to.
Not that I like it, but it is a valid business decision. I also hear that he doesn't care too much financially if we all get pissed and go away and pay somewhere else.
So - face it - he is offering us to play in his backyard for nickels, but he doesn't clean it for us. And we can take it or leave it, and we can like it or not.
Again, I'm not happy about it, but I understand this as a business decision, and can accept it.

Fencer: I don't permanently complain. I only make you aware that something is going wrong in your site. I think in time I will most likely leave this site if this is the kind of response one get as being a paid member. You clearly have no respect or value paid members.

crosseyed: Let me quote from the Paid Membership page:

"The player is not limited by number of started games at once nor number of moves per day nor number of joined tournaments and team tournaments, is limited by 35 vacation days per year."

That's what you are guaranteed to get. Everything else is "maybe, but maybe not, depends on the situation". Please try to deal with it.

Regarding your comment "If Brainking is no longer your top priority you should hand it over to someone else" - if you are interested, give me a good offer and we can discuss it.

Subject: Re: Problem with site.
crosseyed: Maybe you should have read more carefully what you paid for. You have a right to play more games, create fellowships, tournaments etc. There is nothing about "you will be guaranteed to have a site running without any problems ever" or "you will never have connection problems", and it's not there for a very good reason.
I could also say that I find your response (and permanent complaining) very insulting. Then we can insult each other on and on, if it makes you more happy. I prefer not to discuss it with people who only see their own problems and nothing else.
Anyway, I am the one who decides what my priorities are. If you don't like it here, you can always play elsewhere.

Fencer: If Brainking is no longer your top priority you should hand it over to someone else or pay someone to run the site for you. We all pay good money to you and therefore you should be making it a top priority. Your site is a very good site to play in. But I can no longer say that as every time there is a problem with your site you claim there is nothing wrong. However you are now saying there is something wrong. So you should be making it your top priorty to fix the problem. At least when Goldtoken has problems the site owner puts a message stating that the site has been playing up and then gives one week extra on membership. Now that is a gester of good will.
I actually found your post very insulting. As you are quick enough to take our money but do not consider it a top priority to provide a good service to those who pay you.

Hello guys,

It is true that some people can have problems to access BrainKing. BrainKing itself is OK and running fast, but for some strange reason the server occasionally fails to provide new connections, so the generated page never reaches your web browser. When I have time, I'll try to do some tuning, but since I am very busy with many other things (you might have noticed that, after 10 years, BrainKing is not my top priority any longer), it's hard to make any estimate, especially when I have no idea what could went wrong.

When I know more, I'll post it here.

beach: These complaints keep going around for some weeks now, and I understand that it is a real nuisance (I left another site because of it).
But - I had no issues all day. Of course I wasn't playing every single minute, but whenever I tried, it worked well (and I tried often).
I think it is something in the internet's structure like DNS or whatever magic failing that affects large parts of the world intermittently, but the site itself _is working_ fine, believe it or not.

If autopass is turned off, you have to enter the game and make a "pass" move, then your opponent makes the next move. If autopass is turned on, the system passes automatically and your opponent makes the next move.

If reloading doesn't work I have a few bk pages on my favorites list, so I can leave and come back. This seems to work, but today I'm having to do it more than usual. Fencer said it has nothing to do with this site, but with the various server stations our signals travel through. I don't believe that, I say it's gremlins who are doing it.
