Foxy Lady: My herb garden is growing very well

heavenlyemma: I grow herbs too:
love the smell of a row of sweet basil
my sage is 5 years old...can't wait till it blooms.
rosemary is doing well ..its on its second year

nobleheart: One section of my yard is full of mint and spreads like crazy.I love the smell of it.Seems the more we mow it down the more we get.

Foxy Lady:That sounds just like a mint we have . It's called catmint and after it's mowed it smells nice for quite a while, and it is a little bit invasive.

skipinnz: I have alot of it in my cupboard it's great for tummy upsets.We make a tea out of it,it's great with ice tea also.

Foxy Lady:Never thought of using it for a tea might just try it. :o)

Foxy Lady:Foxy Lady ment to ask with the mint tea do you dry the leaves or use them green?

skipinnz: I usually dry them for future use,but i've also have made it fresh.I love mint water it's so refreshing.

Foxy Lady: speaking of ginger for the kids, and hoping i'm not getting too , have You ever tried ginger ice cream? mmmmmmmm.

plaintiger:I've been to the ginger factory in Queensland Aust and they have a whole heap of different tyeps of ginber plants with the most spectular range of flowers and colours.

skipinnz: wow. i don't know if i've ever seen a ginger plant.

plaintiger: You can buy Ginger in any grocery store it's a root,not a plant that i buy

Foxy Lady: aha, right, of course: ginger root. looks kind of like ginseng, doesn't it? though less man-shaped?

ginger ice cream = yum. i discovered it at a great local sushi place. Japanese phenomenon, evidently. and most yum.

plaintiger: I'll check out the ice cream.That Ginger root is a pain to peel.

Foxy Lady: even with a potato peeler?

plaintiger: Yes they are,the root has lots of stubbies on them.

Foxy Lady: aww...sushi chefs sure do manage to shave them thin! must use Ginsu knives or something.

plaintiger: Ginger ice cream no i haven't

plaintiger: off topic a lil' please forgive...but someone mentioned ice cream......mmmmm.
there is a place in chinatown here..serves lychee nut ice cream.
also on st.clair,in the italian community..a place that makes fresh gelato in flavours:
cinnammon,hazelnut,chestnut,fig,ginger,pistacio..and many more.

But after hearing about slugs, I'm not really hungry

Foxy Lady: The slugs ate all my lettuce! The swines lol! They must have been starving poor things.

Mousetrap: I have a real bad slug problem too. Home Depot has a slug bait that isnt harmful to the environment you might wnat to try. Little pellets that they eat and it kills them ( I think it expands too much once in them) Anywho, I have/had about 200 sunflowers in my back garden and only half way survive. Must be slugs favourite food

Rose: LOL! Good job they are not meat eaters! I userally just put salt down, that shivals them up and they keep away from it but they beat me to it and me lettuce had only been out one day! Greedy things!

Mousetrap: wow, You must be pretty slow if slugs can beat You to Your garden!

Rose: Now don't laugh but try putting down a dish of beer it works.

Foxy Lady: We've tried beer here a few times but there isn't enough beer cuz there are wayyyy too many slugs. After it rains if you go in the backyard all you see are hundreds of slugs coming up for air.. It is so gross

Rose: Wow we don't have that bad of a problem...........Our dog drank the beer a few times so we don't use that anymore
