I believe he only plays the "expired" account to finish the games which did not time out, but has not started any new games with that account. Both used for playing games, as well as other activities.... I have noticed for example that his "expired" profile has a ponds rating of 2193, not very high as far as pond ratings go, yet his now active pond rating is at 2444, high enough to place him at 14th in the rankings!
