Hrqls: That's like I love playing Ludo but I never go to the Ludo Board (anymore, that is). So it would make sense to me, that if there is a hot topic running on the board, that a general notice could be posted on here so that non-readers of a category board could know about it.
In the Turkish Checkers situation, I assumed that would happen. So in that case, Hrqls re-directing the conversation to the Turkish Board is an expected move.
gogul: lol! i would love a lolboard :) (the dutch word 'lol' means 'fun' :))
i think there might be too many boards already .. personally i am perfectly fine with a board per game type or as it is right now
people who liked the discussion about the rules of turkish checkers though didnt find it on the checkers board so i assumed they might want to have a separate board for discussions about game rules, as i think thats more important than the ordinary chats about the games on those boards, but i guess they dont need it either :)
Hrqls: Ya, it is a categorical question to me too. For example: If I want to search for the word extrapolate on BrainKing, I'll soon have the idea to suggest to create a board exclusively for the word extrapolate. That way I wont have to invest a lot of time to find the word. With the possibilities of today (you know, hyperlink and stuff), everyone could choose the order he likes. I personaly would favorize the opption to have boards for each single word, that means a wordboard for the word "word". A thatboard for the word "that". A thatboardboard for the word "thatboard", and so on. Do you think that makes sence? The basics of Internet can put all in each favorized order. ...?
gogul: i like to have things a bit categorized (is that an english word ? ;)) people who are interested in sports but dont play any can go to the sports board to read about it, it doesnt have to posted on this board which is about brainking in general
i admit that gamerules of games on brainking are in a grey area wether they belong more on the game board itself or on the board for the specific game .. after all the posts about turkish checkers on all boards i had to direct it to the appropriate board and hope something like this wont happen again in the future :)
Bernice: I think the answer lies in very limited access to computers and, for that matter, to telephones. According to the link below, there were only around 190,000 internet users in Cuba as of December 2006, most of which were probably commercial users.
I have looked and perhaps the eyes arent working properly LOL, but looking at the list of countries that play on here I cant find CUBA...is it there or do we have any players on here from there:) and if not does anybody know why?
Hrqls: Well what are the mods of these boards thinking about then? Peoples who don't play these games could be interested in reading about the game, not worth going to seach over several boards to find finaly something interesting about it. Switch-overs don't hurt.
tippycI believe action points main use was for fencer to test his site under more pressure than it was already getting (people liked to get the most points so would play many more games and make more moves a day) there was also prizes for the top positions ...........shame it has stopped for those that enjoyed it .
Hrqls: Atila had done it a long time ago. No answers, there (checkers variants 8x8, the right place). In checkers board it's no usefull too. Well... anyway, this is not the right place for the discussion, indeed. It would take us for a long conversation that always have been avoided for Fencer and global mod's, in brainking...
this is just an observation; but, for the names of the team torunaments, wouldn't First Contact be better for the game of Assimiliation since the main enemy was the Borg? Resistance is futile. You will be assimiliated!
Fencer: Hi Fencer. When a player has two possibilities to capture a pawn, with a pawn and with a king at the same time, the program forces to capture with the king. Players (experienced or not) has no chance to select to capture with the pawn. This is a bug. To clarify all the rules of Turkish Checkers, we have prepared and submitted an article about Turkish Checkers in Brainrook site with my user. Would you please confirm to publish it, so everyone can access and read whole rules of the game. There are many board bitmaps displaying related rules examples. When you will find time to fix these items, it is better to check and test the implementation of the rules with this document. We also understand that your work load is heavy with this nice sites support issues. Therefore, if it is within the principles, we are also ready to help to work with your team to fix, implement and test these rules, even at the programming level.
If a team joins a tournament but one of its players' membership expires before the tournament starts what will happen? Will the team have to rejoin (with another member) or will it still be up for play?
Fencer: I think if we get more frequent, small batches of Team Tournaments it will come closer to pleasing everyone. As we all know, it is impossible to please everyone. Personally, I have no complaints about this batch!
emmett: I am surprised there are not more games for the intelligent, thinking type player. Well i know what i mean Chess, Go, Line games etc.. Three of them are dice luck games, still fun but not mind taxing.
Fencer: Unexperienced players should learn how to play the game as accurately as possible. Making a copmparison with chess, it's like being able to castle after having moved your king or by crossing a square that is atacked by an enemy piece - experienced players wouldn't do it, but unexperienced ones might,m because they still don't know the rules very well.
Anyway, and I'm sure it would settle it for everybody - since you just admited that taking advantage of the "unenforced rule" is not the correct move, while it is not fixed, and if someone plays such a move against me, what can I do? It seems to me all I can do is not play the game, which is a shame...
Also I aggree that it is your right to set the priorities as you see fit, but it's also our right to try and make you set them more according to our likings . Here's another example to make you think: Hasami Shogi is a lot less played than Turkish Checkers. Yet it's rules were changed some time ago to make it more playable. The change was also in the line of "enforcing a new rule". Yet, even with the change, the game is still far less popular than Turkish Checkers...
And since I'm not trying to stir anything, I've rest my case (for now) and let others do the speaking on this subject from now on... You're still doing a great job on this site, no matter what, Fencer
pauloaguia: Actually, there is no "bug" in the game. It is just one particular rule which is not enforced but the players must know about the maximum capture rules and do it. If experiences players play Turkish Checkers (and I think that the majority of Turkish users know their game), they simply do the correct move, although the system would allow them to do another move as well. The only problem can happen when a good player plays which an unexperienced one who does not know the rules. This will be addressed. And since BrainKing's background is not only about the games and there are many other things which must be done too (and some of them always have a higher priority), this issue will be solved when there is a time for that. No further complaints can make it faster. Just to make sure that nobody misunderstands me - I know that there is a small problem with Turkish Checkers and I plan to fix it. But BrainKing is not only about Turkish Checkers and I reserve a right to set the priorities.
