Purple: Hi, Purple. I write this here because I can't PM you. Must be such a problem in my computer. Can I join that fellowship? I've noticed some checkers players are in that fellowship, maybe I could learn more about the game with you. I saw (also) that our mods in this DB are the most active members of it, so... it's almost a "second home" for checkers players.
Unfortunatelly, a lot of great checkers players are not here (and there), I still don't know why (I have my opinion about that, but nevermind...), but I hope this can change. I dream with that glorious day when We will be all great friends, again! As a family!

He was selected because he is liked and respected by all who know him and plays an excellent game of checkers. I believe and know he will do an outstanding job and we are lucky to have him.

I just became new co-moderator. Looking over previous posts, I hope I'm not causing any problems. I know alot of the people here and look forward to meeting everyone else. If anyone has questions for me, post them here or message me directly. Thank you and good luck on all your games.

The game of checkers is the only appropriate topic here and I have nothing against you. Perhaps you could PM the people posting in Portugese etc. to desist. Thanks.

A disturbing point indicated here by the candidate was that the current mods are friends and benefit a certain group of persons. With a different mod there would be a different criteria and it would be better for all board users to have an extra point of view.

I agree with Andre Faria, Gabriel Almeida is a great checkers player and his work as moderator in the Tugas board has been excelent. When a new mod is needed, he is the man for the job.

Gabriel Almeida: I appreciate your comments but the main job of a co-moderator here is to assure that no one can feel comfortable on this board when they attack, demean, insult, degrade or belittle other people. This is a tightly run board and they will be hidden, deleted or banned for doing so. Further there are a few people who never post regarding checkers but love to stray far off topic with their posts. This also needs to be discouraged. My co-moderator and the Globals have done an excellent job in assisting me in this. If and when I determine Nomad will not return or that I need another co-moderaor then a decision will be made. I wanted to clarify my criteria. Thanks.

Rose: Gabriel has reason. For me, Gabriel is the right person to be a great co moderator. He plays every checkers variant with success and he can help Purple. Nomad goes out and Ustica isn’t fluent in english. Besides, Gabriel is very creative and I’m sure he goes improve Checkers forum. I, Gabriel and Andre don’t want pressure Purple. One thing is opinion and other, completely different, is pressure someone. Rose: I would never accepted it as a "forced thing", Rose! I'm just offering me to help Purple in this board. I feel I can be useful, that's why I do it. However, it's much easier for me just being here without any responsability as co-mod...
Besides, it's clear for me that some checkers players don't feel confortable here. It's a fact that Purple and his co-mod's are friends, and (as any other "group" in brainking) have better relations with some other groups,and worst with some others. I think my inclusion could contribute for a largest "meeting" of checkers "sensibilities"... I don't know if I'm explaining myself in proper therms...

A main moderator should never feel pressure to make someone who demands it, the new co-mod. The idea is for the main mod to add his own co-mods, people who work well with him. It is their choice who they make a co-mod.
It sounds to me like people are being a tad pushy and almost sounding demanding that they or their buddies be made a new Co mod. You cannot force a Main mod to make you a co mod.

Anyway... I'm still available to be co-mod in this board. As it looks that a lot of people agrees with that...

B L I T Z M E: Unfortunatelly, I only know Moseyev. And some portuguese players, but they play Portuguese (Spanish? Classic?) Checkers. Anyway, I believe that, in general, it's difficult to compare players from different centuries / decades. And, usually, youngsters are better than the eldest, because they have all the background that was builded for the others!

Stardust: He has been ill but I fully expect his return. If he doesn't I will appoint someone else. As long as people confine their posts to checkers there is very little for co-moderators to do. Global moderators monitor the public boards as well and I am notififed when posters start inappropriate topics. I take action as soon as I become aware.

This forum is a sadness. There are a lost (nomad), an analphabetic (ustica) and a tyrant lady (Purple). We have change these moderators.

Gabriel Almeida: The discussion was about this board's moderators. Since it's been almost a month since one of the moderators has been online,I was wondering if it was known if he was returning or not. If he isn't planning to return perhaps another moderator could be appointed to replace him. Just my two cents

We are here to discuss CHECKERS..not Ustica or Nomad. I will not engage in a debate about this but delete off topic posts and if necessary hide or ban the poster. This stops now.
