I confirm that I've just received money for these prizes. When winners are known, their memberships will be activated.

bwildman: How should it filter them? Remove players with BKR out of range in time of tournament start?

if the tourny has a rating limit, will the new system filter players when it automaticly starts the tourny?

Otsikko: Backgammon Team Tournament
According to ratings, the top 3 teams (Average rating of all 5 players) are:

1) Bry's Backgammon & 5-in-line Team (2164 Avg)
2) The Gammon Cube (2139 Avg)
3) Monkeys Swinging Madhouse (2122 Avg)

Are you trying to tell us something? :-)

Well, it should not happen anymore when our overloaded hardware is upgraded.
Hint Hint Hint :-)

That would be nice Fencer - but then again, the problem I see with that is that probable once a month you will get the question "Hey, I had a tournament in the list which is now gone, and not started yet!" - which of course would be the case until the tournament auto-start is ran.

9. Heinäkuu 2004, 16:30:24
Fencer
I will probably make the "negative time" tournaments hidden.

9. Heinäkuu 2004, 16:17:32
coan.net
I have found that the tournaments auto-starter runs about every 1-2 hours, which will start any tournament which is past it's start time.

BUT - what you probable notice is my "Fast Start" tournament, which when they have enough people to start, what I do is just change the start date of the tournament ahead 1 day so they start faster - so they will start the next time the "Auto-Start" runs, and not have to sit there full waiting for the time to run out.

Cassius, I think he said yesterday that if the server is close to overload etc, the script that starts the tournies, will not start until a suitable time

Sometimes I see in the tournementarea some tournements with a (red) minus time. I thought the tournements are starting now automatically if the deadline is reached. How is this possible?

I can be done later.

when browsing the tournament area, is there a way to desern between tournaments which are already full, or ones we have already signed up for etc.?

Or should this be a feature request?

Otsikko: Re:
Kevin... The 'relative skill' is the SAME as who is better!

Ihave said beforwe that you are an intelligent young man. (maybe too smart for your own good) You sometime come across like a computer when you write, thats what I meant by 'robot like'. There is nothing wrong with it at all, except that you said the same thing I did, only with different words.

I'll refer to the 4th sentence of my post four posts down.

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 22:33:57

leaving games till their final hours

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 22:30:55
Kevin
To what "silly games" are you referring?

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 22:08:36
Stevie
Ill refer to the top line of my last post again then

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 22:06:22
Kevin
What do you mean by "deliberately play slow"? Sure I could spend 16 hours a day on here and never have a move wait longer than a few hours between my visits to this site. But I can't see that happening. If you mean that I purposely play slower than I have to just to make people wait, that isn't the case. I am not going to start the discussion re: why I play the speed I play again - you can read all about it on the Brainking.com board.

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 21:56:35
Stevie
Why not grow up and stop playing silly games with us.
It is relevant, its tournaments that you are ruining

And I guess that admission is also proof that you deliberately play slow then?

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 21:51:54
Kevin
You pestering is in fact not swaying me to play any of my games faster. And the more posts I have to reply to the longer all of my games will wait.

Btw, this is completely unrelated to tournaments.

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 21:45:22
Stevie
Just hurry up and finish our games and I wont pester you

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 21:44:24
Kevin
IMupChucKing: Yes, if you have a higher rating that means you are better than me at that game. However, if you will reread my post, I said "Ratings aren't just to determine who is the best and who is better than who." The key word in that sentence being the word "just".

And how do you figure I said it like a robot? Because I used a higher level of vocabulary than you think I should have?

Steve: I have the same right to post on any board I like, just like everyone else (who hasn't been banned) - including you.

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 13:50:13

Otsikko: Re:
What are you talking about Kevin?

If I am more skilled than you at a game, isnt that the same as being better than you?
Its the same thing, only you said it like a robot...

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 06:31:29
Bernice
you are right there Bwild :) Im continually being told how stupid i am because i lose one game in every four...who cares, or who should care if I dont ROFLMBO :)

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 05:51:43
bwildman
according to some inflated ego's...lower bkr's mean your "weak".Personally...I find pleasure in the game, and encourage folks with lower bkrs to play, learn and have fun.

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 05:48:37
bwildman
thx for the update Kevin! LOL:)

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 05:43:30
Kevin
Ratings aren't just to determine who is the best and who is better than who. They are mainly to give a numerical representation of that player's skill at that game. This makes it useful to determine the relative skill of everyone, and to find appropriate opponents.

7. Heinäkuu 2004, 05:35:43
bwildman
dont forget...the Shooting Fish in a Barrel gothic chess tourny for players with a 1700 bkr or lower.Have fun.
