"the game is finished..." if stalemate is consider to end the game it should be mentioned, it was not probably by accident because it was not considered by the games creator/author of the rule on this site. The game should not end if you haven't fulfilled the "finishing conditions!"
"The game is finished if one player moves own king to the last row. However, when white moves his king to the last row, and black moves directly after that also his king to the last row, the game is a draw, in order to compensate white player's advantage of making the first move."
ketchuplover: probably more than you can dish out.. He has awards for the one with the most moves.. and you pretty much have to consistantly move the entire 24 hours with no thoughts.. hope you can hold going to the potty! ;)
ketchuplover: Not sure what you mean? When I transfer money, it goes into Fencer's personal account. Nobody gets anything of it. (I have no idea what he does with it, though) If you use PayPal, they take their share as with everything going through them. I don't know the percentage (as they don't want me as a customer), but it can't be so bad.
I just received (at 9AM) a message saying I'm the winner of a tournament, with the text "you are the winner of this tournament". However it does not say which tournament. Moreover, yesterday I had 31 running tournaments and today I have... 31 running tournaments (I don't remember starting any new one). Is this a "spam" message, a bug, etc.?
rod03801: thx a lot rod03801...it's really interesting that other refer the same problem. but not all users or boards seams to be affected, this makes it tricky for the support...
speachless: As someone else said, I think this is something new. As though the image recently disappeared. I haven't noticed it up until now. But I know I'll be looking more carefully on my few current plakato games.
thisbeme: me i even didn't had to switch to small board size, cause it already was, but anyway the graphic is missing, this is what irritates me so much... but anyway, i don't think filip fencer will care, it seams to me he didn't take it for serious cause he's convinced i just need to switch to the small board size.... what already is! i think i will just stop playing plakoto...
thisbeme: The bug is really only the graphics, not the play. Instead of showing the picture of a black piece pinning a white piece, because that image is missing, it shows nothing or just the white piece. I'm not saying this makes it any better, it is clearly unplayable. Just understand that the issue is solely the missing images.
For years I said that plakoto had a bug and was told there was "not a bug!" Nobody told me to switch the setting.
It seems that the small board does display the game so you know which piece is covered and which is doing the the covering. Small board does look really ugly btw. Large board still has the same bug of hiding the pieces and not showing which piece is covered and by how many (unless fixed while my post was written)! Only trial and error or playing through the game history would tell you what is going on! Why the big board doesn't function as the small board is annoying I wasted a lot of time using trial and error to work out what going on!
Fencer: thx fencer for checking, you just need to click on the plakoto games with your own settings to SMALL-sized board and you'll see the same as I do...
pedestrian: If there is a problem, I will look at it when I have time. Finding a bug in a game model that was taken as "working" for 4 years is not easy.
Fencer: Let me try again: Now there is also a problem with the smaller set. It must be recent, speachless was the first one to notice. But it's in my games too.
Fencer: clear thx Fencer.... but my game settings are set already to small... so anyway, I see you can't or want help... so thx for your precious time and i will follow your hint and go to the backgammon forum...
speachless: Some graphics is missing in the bigger set but the small one should be OK, as far as I know. How would people play Plakoto, anyway? From time to time I receive a question why some pieces are missing on the board but when I suggest to switch to the small set, everybody responds that the problem was solved. So I take it for granted.
Fencer:I'm not sure if I understand right what you're meaning about the plakoto graphics....maybe ironically? anyway, i can't pay a game, when i have to be aware of disappeared pieces...it makes a strategic game impossible to me, since the board setting is set to small...
so is it right that no one will follow up the plakoto problem, cause you're thinking there is no problem?
pedestrian: At least I know that I am not wrong about it. Regarding Plakoto, it is true that some images are missing, mostly because they are specific to Plakoto only (mixed white and black pieces) and I had probably forgotten to create them. When I have some time, I will look at it.
Fencer: I appologize I did Fencer.... yes you're right with the Fevga Games, i know the rules but having problems with the plakoto games crashed me to analize the fevga games wrongly... and sorry i didn't realize you're having specific forum boards, i just didn't knew it...
i will follow the plakoto problem on the specific board... but sincerely, the game settings are already set AT SMALL, since beginning and how can i play properly plakoto, if i can't see the right situation? and there are also plakoto games which works properly...
so thx again Fencer for your precious time, i came to you cause i didn't get any answer from your tech support, since i told them that my settings are already at small position... so another player gave me the hint to email you directly...
so sorry again and take it easy, nobody got hurt or something
Fencer: Oops, I posted 5 seconds later than you :-)
Take a closer look at those Plakoto games, though. It does look like something is wrong. The same thing happens when I play through some of my older games, which suggests that it is a recent problem with the graphics, not the gameplay.
Otsikko: Re: ERRORS of RUNNING fevga and plakoto games
speachless: The Fevga game I can explain: You can't make a legal move with the 6-6 roll. "A player's first checker must pass the opponent's starting point before he may move any of his other checkers."
The Plakoto thing is funny, it actually looks like a piece disappears. But if you play on, the piece reappears when the trapping piece moves away. I guess it is (yet another) problem with the special image files used in Plakoto.
The problem used to be that some of those image files were missing. That meant that you had to set the game settings for backgammon type games to the smaller version - if you didn't, sometimes some tiles of the plakoto board would not show at all. That's probably why you were told to change the settings. But it seems that now some image files have been swapped around somehow, the result being that some trapped pieces don't show on the screen. This should be fixed.
speachless: Interesting. How many times have you read the Fevga rules before you started to fill my mailbox with "typical problems"?
Let me quote something:
"A player's first checker must pass the opponent's starting point before he may move any of his other checkers."
That explains the 6-6 "bug", right?
I would like to add that Plakoto and Fevga had been introduced here in February 2008, more than 4 years ago. I am sure that if these variants were as flawed as you suggest, some poeple would have probably noticed that a long time ago.
The bottom line - there is a special Backgammon discussion board which should be used for any further comments or questions. I don't doubt that regular backgammon players would give you any explanations better (and faster) than me.
hi all, at first i hope you understand my english, that is more puzzled together as anything else...
since a week i had to report 6 plakoto and 2 fevga games to the tech staff because rolls were processed wrongly....
fevga-typical problems are: 2 rolls of 6+6 and 5+5 couldn't been played by the opponent, he had to pass over to me, even if we were already since min. 3 moves running the game, so it wasn't a pass over at beginning of a random game.... he you can see an example of the last passed roll: Fevga (SolidGold vs. speachless)
at plakoto: instead of trapping an opponents piece, you hit it, this happened on 6 different plakoto boards...
i went over some archived plakoto games and there i can see the problem sometimes too...
i'm interested if you are making similar experiences....
tech support told me to set the backgammon game setting to smal sized....but it was already, it's not that problem....
Can someone help me of how to Configure this? I am new, and Brain Kings' Staff, individual or Plural, or someone else, say something like '' If it seems to be too Difficult just click Continue and leave the Rest of this form untouched '' when I want to start a new Game. Well, have to say, that's not my Style. I want to know.
With ludo games you still have to "find" a piece to click. I still think twenty or so unrated uncounted linetris games with a fischer clock of .1/.1/.1 will do the trick better than any game out there. Just keep clicking in the bottom row and you can go forever... literally... or until one of you stops playing. :-)
