For myself, I rarely play Fisher Clock Games - and if I do, I always try to get a game that has at least 1 day bonus - since if I wait until the last minute to make my move, I know it will come back to me with at least 1 day to make a move. 24. You can earn more time by moving fast but only up to a total of 9 days for the whole game. So yes you timed out because the other person was the last to make a move.
