It has a few different meanings in the English language 1. practice followed by people of a particular group or region. 2. Duties or taxes imposed on imported and, less commonly, exported goods. 3.Made to order. I think a lot of it is lack of written use in every day life. Most folks don't normally write or type very much except at sites like this.
