I just installed 2 500EFI's in a '42 Lightning (Fountain Boats)
these are 502 blocks with hp rods,pistons,crane roller cam,roller lifters,rocker arms,and a tunnel ram intake.
one engine sounded great...the other had a loose lifter. Mercruiser Raceing autherized me to readjust(had to cut a security tab) and I found # 8 intake lifter would not compress.
I ordered 2 new lifters,and 1 wouldnt compress,and th other barely would. that one I installed,and still rocker arm noise. Mercruiser Racing then sent me 2 more lifters,and nieher of them would compress.the adjustment on a new hydrolic roller cam is zero clearance and 1 full turn.hard to do with a non-compressable lifter.So the guys in Fondulac were going to send me another engine.I decided to dis assemble the lifter...dumped the cleaning solvent out of it...volla...it compressed!!...reinstalled and redjusted the lifters...VROOM!! problem solved.

Stevie: it is here too,Steve.Over the years I've found you almost have to be a detective to understand what folks are saying.
Lt.Minz:all marine engines are water cooled.if theres water entering the engine compartment..there are several ways for this to happen.the overboard indicater hose(pisser) could be cracked and leaking,or you have a water jacket leak.
if watr in getting inside the engine internaly,you have either a blown head gasket or a cracked block.
As far as a "dry engine" I'm still not sure what you are referring to.you may consider a trip to your local marine service center.

it depends on the application.There is a wide range of uses in the marine field..from the 1.2 horsepower,air-cooled...to the unlimited horsepower of off-shore application.
many boats use 2 cycle oil/mixed with gas engines.these are slowly being phased out in the United States and are being replaced with the more efficient and a great deal more enviroment friendly 4 strokes.

yes it would...just not as bright.you should see it mixing 1/2 a gallon of airplane fuel with 97 octane "Eythl"

LOL...I see now they offer after market kits for that...back when I was a kid and you could still buy airplane fuel...we'd wire a spark plug to the exhaust and run a throw swith on the dash.Local cops loved us....shame they knew where we lived...they couldnt catch us!!

right...thats the purpose of the polyethylene glycol mix...heat transfer and protection from freezing.

50/50? thats what I use.Some later model cars,trucks,and vans use what they call"permanent"antifreeze.it has a red color,and doesnt blend with the green glycol...so beware.

are you using "permanent"antifreeze in your subaru?
