Kevin, I believe if your buttocks caught fire somehow, you would go participate in your extra-curricular activites, then go look for water about 1 minute before any trace of your rear end was left.

Earlier today, I had these red numbers by the Main Page link. (101/1) ... what did that mean? I was going to check it out by clicking on the "1", but got sidetracked, and never did.

If you have so many time commitments, why are you in Customer Service.
It is blatantly obvious that you do not assist in that, and in fact go out of your way to let games time down causing ppl to wait longer. No need to argue that point as you have just stated so below by saying that if they were due to time out, you would play them.

I think at least you should opt out of customer service and rethink your attitudes. there are others to consider and the fact that they have pointed out that they would prefer you to play faster should be reason enough for you to do such, and not justify your lack of speed.

there is absolutely no reason for you to apologize or feel like you need to explain your actions to anyone. Some people`s strange opinions are their own problem, not yours.
And yes...there is life outside of the internet. Very strange that there are adults who haven`t made that discovery yet.

Kevin
Why do you assume I have left these games to the last minute purposely? I have not. I had other commitments, and I knew the games would not time out while I was gone. And I guess I was right. If they would have timed out, I would have played them before. I'm sorry this site is not my #1 commitment.

School is hardly a commitment at all - I just have to go there for 6 hours a day. There was never a need to study, and very rarely had homework I had to do at home. That would be why I became involved in all of the extracurricular activities - to give me something to do.

You have the right to believe that I have to many games or am involved in too many things, but I'm the one who is in fact involved in them, so it is my choice and my problem. If I have too many games than I can play, I will time out giving my opponent the win. If I do not time out, I obviously do not have too many games than I can handle. The only times I have timed out were either a misjudgment as to how long I had to move (so I would do something more important), or a temporary loss of internet access. But you know what? I have survived those games timing out.

Also, it really does not take very long to play through my games. I never spend more than about 30 seconds per move, and probably average less than 10. That's less than 20 minutes to play through 100 games, assuming the site is responding well. If you are wondering why then I do not play them faster - I simply have more important things to do. This is what I would call a hobby or a pastime - I enjoy playing games here, and that is the only reason why I do it. It's people like you that worsen the experience here.

No, I sure do not worry that I am "biting off more than I can chew", and like I said - the number of games I have in progress obviously is not too much.

Kevin, you currently have over 20 games which should have timed out by now. You stated that you have never purposly left a game to the last minute, you also stated that you are not moving in your games because you dont have to. Which is it? Not moving until you are forced to (purposly playing at the last minute) or not????

You also have well over 100 games currently going. What do You call full time??? How can you posibly have school full time, and all of the extra curricular activities you claim, and still keep up with 100+ games?

You are obviously an intelligent young man. But dont you worry that you are biting off more than you can handle, at such a young age? I mean 20 something games which are ready to time out, is just too much of a load for you right now, its obvious. Instead od apologizing, maybe you should show some maturity and cut back your game count, or play longer limit games?

Kevin toimetatud (3. juuli 2004, 21:28:34)
I apologize if I am moving too slowly for anyone, but I do not believe I am moving more slowly than usual. I am just not required at the time to ensure my games do not "time out", so I am not.

If you will notice, I have joined VERY few tournaments in the last several months (maybe 1?), excluding the ones I was invited to (which I will always join). If you want to remove my from tournaments I may happen to join, that's your choice - I will not be offended.

I have NEVER left a game to the last minute purposely - if I happen to move with minutes left, that is when I happened to get to it. If I have the time between the other events in my life, I will play until I have no games left - but I will remind you that until recently I was in school, and was quite involved in school and community activities, as well as working a part-time job. Sorry I can't make Brainking.com a full time job like you.

And LJ - if you believe insulting me will make me move faster, I'm sorry to tell you it will not. If you do not believe it will make me move faster, then I ask you: Why do you insult me? Do you believe that you are better than me because you are older than me?

Also, on a related note, you will noticed that every membership I have offered I have paid for - and more. Can you say that, LJ? Didn't think so.

I think it was a little more sensible when cheapskates like BuilderQ who cant even fork out 10 bucks for membership were not able to post.
His comments on this situation obviously are only directed to try and make you more angry.
I think maybe it is time for people like BuilderQ to once again be banned from the boards.
Pay up or Shut up is usually a good motto :)

ON this time limit issue though, I still think it would be great if one of the previous suggestions of a set overall game time limit was implemented. Little boys with silly wigs wouldnt be able to delay games then.

In the meantime, I think we should all boot Kevin from our tourneys before they start.

There is one more significant advantage of a brand new server. It is usually purchased with 3 years warranty (or more, in some cases). When something goes wrong, we don't have to pay for a fix, it must be done for free by the vendor. It means there should be no other unexpected expenses like we occasionally have in our current situation.

I wonder, had there been no donations to purchase a new server, where would the money come from for these repairs? If I said to you, Fencer, I have $4K(or the full price) for you to purchase a brand new server, check is in the mail, I would expect (not trust) that you would purchase that server. If you do not have money already to keep up with repairs, perhaps you should be taking donations for that purpose, instead of a new server?
Stevie... you didnt do a very good job of removing these type of players from your dollar donation tournament ;) It would be into the third round or finished by now had it not been for 2 or 3 players!

3. juuli 2004, 17:42:24

Of course a tournament is set to the pace of the slowest player. Everyone has to finish their games for the tournament to be completed. By signing up for a tournament, you agree to wait for the other players in it.

Tyhis is the right board, its misuse of something done to the site to help others.

I have already started removing players like this from my tournaments, but these games were started many months ago. But most players ive removed dont act like this in these circumstances. But then again, he is still a minor anyways.

And who are you to tell me where to post?

Teema: Re:
Its called tournaments..... no control over who you play, and even if you dont play them, you still have to wait for them, as a tournament is set up to play at the pace of the slowest player. I agree with Steve, that its just a lack of courtesy when someone who is holding up a tournament does so even when they are on here often and are able to play at a much faster pace, if they werent so obstinent. (BTW...being obstinent is nothing to be proud of)

I think it is a conspiracy to make every pay atleast for two years membership, as most tournaments take that long, or more, to complete ;)

IMupChucKing: It's a matter of trust, nothing else. Nobody is obliged to support us, everything is voluntary.
bwildman: Do you really think it's possible to purchase a whole new server for 400 or 500 USD? You cannot buy more than several components to replace the damaged ones in the current "same old equipment" [as you call it] which is exactly what the money was used for. We cannot just wait for more funds and do nothing at the meantime. When something is malfunctioning, it MUST be fixed immediately. Q.E.D.

If game time is suspended, that means that no one is required to move. If you don't like how quickly someone moves, then don't play them again. What more needs to be said?

Teema: Re: same old equipment
I was under the impression that the $ donated was to be saved to help pay for a new server.

I suppose it does not matter exactly, if that money was used for other things related to brainking, and then use money collected from memberships, for example, to pay for a new server.

Maybe if we are really concerned, we could hold donated funds in an escrow account until the time to purchase this new server, so there would be no possible other uses for money that we want used to buy a new server.
