rednaz23: Here is a link Fencer has provided in the past:

http://math.bu.edu/people/mg/ratings/approx/approx.html

There has been much discussion about the formula in here. Typing "formula" into the search box on this page will show you much of the conversation

Teema: Brain King Ratings
How are the Brain King Ratings computed at the end of a game? I understand the basics... but what is the formula? I have been trying to figure it out, but I can't with the data that I have collected thus far. (Sorry, I am a bit of a geek you could say when it comes to figuring things out.)

Thanks

Czuch Chuckers: Even though this is probable not the best board, the "so as not to corrupt the whole site" that you were once told was followed by a smile face, which is also a way to be sarcastic. You posted with foul language, a global moderator seen it first and hide it, and left the rest up to the main moderator to take care of - it was a simple issue to that point.

Yes, all foul language will be removed from the public boards. Off topic and such will at times be allowed to stray, but foul language will always be removed/hidden as soon as possible.

Teema: Re:
mook53lhd: Thanks, I agree with you 100%, and was being sarcastic, but it doesnt always come out well in writing... I think the boards on brainking are often far over moderated, and we always hear the excuse that its because "its a family oriented site, and children read these boards" or something like that. I have been hiden before because of an errant swear word and told that I needed to be hiden "so as not to corrupt the whole site!" This from a global moderator, so it must be the policy. Anyway, I am glad that someone agrees with me that these boards are hardly likely to lead to the corruption of anyone on this site, no matter the content, and that parental monitoring is much more appropriate than over zealous moderation.

Czuch Chuckers: er sir; if you were a youth yourself ,then you should know that most of what young people want to know they pick up on the st. friends & schoolmates pass along things .you know the grapevine. i agree that foul language & offensive posts by anyone are uncalled for. when they say kids have access ,i don`t know if they mean teens who play the games .or a youngster watching daddy on the pc.very few things these days shock anyone. but don`t get the idea that todays kids are naive. most know the story by the time they reach high school.certainly i haven`t seen any posts on this channel which in the slightest way would rob a young person of their youth. in fact i don`t think i`ve read anything which as you say should be censored .no i don`t know the post you are referring to .in any event its the rare exception & not the rule. mook

Fencer: I took it to be a clever marketing strategy that benefits both the buyer and seller. There is a degree of risk(that being the site is not guarenteed to be here in 10 years, hell,we might not inhabit this earth in ten years)but I was impressed by the creativity in presenting it as an option.

thx. to both of you.
used to be that you could change weekend days off weekly. i changed them when i had surgery and i wanted to put them back, i can wait.
yes, i was able to unclick 2 vacation days that i had thought i might need, that was good.

Teema: Re: is this happening to anyone else?
ellieoop: Only the weekend days (normally Saturday & Sunday) can be changed every 30 days - I think you can change your vacation days around whenever.... well as long as the date has not passed.

For the smileys, In Settings, JavaScript page - change "Activate interactive smiley window:" from "on mouse over" TO: "on mouse click" That way you can click on the smiley for it to come up, rather then accedently pass your mouse over the list where they all come up, and sometimes have to click to make them go away.

ellieoop: Yes...happened to me all the time. I actually sent someone a potato and a black heart once.

If you go under settings then tab to java script, you can set the smileys so they only show up if you click on them.

when i write a msg. on my game, lots of times a whole page of smileys show, and i have to click to lose it, and sometimes i must click one cause i get the smiley or stinky#, good think i see it in time. LOL..

i also noticed in trying to change my days off, it now says it can only be done once a month:( is that a new feature?

OK... I just looked at this board... and I clicked back on discussion boards, and it said 1 new message. I click back on and there is nothing new! What is going on with the boards?! I think I may just give up with the boards... I am interested in what people have to say, but not when it is such a hassle with everything that has been going on and now invisible posts... I don't get it...

It strikes me that whoever you are having a problem with is playing a game (see Flame Wars under google) and wins accrding how long he/she manages to tie up the site and how long he'she remains a center of attention. Which has been quite while.

Czuch Chuckers: ok, you asked a relevent question and now I think I can answer you. Sorry you had to wait.

I was following the conversation earlier and it seemed ok. People had questions, they got answers.

Then I made the mistake of going to have a bite to eat without logging off.
OH Whoops!

Bry noticed in my absence (altho it appeared I was online) that the conversation had taken a different course and stepped in.
I don't feel like he was stepping on my toes, I feel like he was watching out for the board.
I have no problem with that. It's what he's supposed to do.
I'm answering this because it is good to show the roles that board moderators and globals play here for new users and pawns to see, but the rest of us know all about this, so I would like this conversation to end now, please, and leave the board for more relevent Brainking.com posts.
Thanks
