No matter what we do to try to keep healthy there will always be something to hurt us in todays society. You can get cancer from breathing.
I think until my country bans Diet soda I will still partake in it. We can't have sugared sodas cuz we will gain weight and the sugar will cause grief too. You get diabetis from partaking in too much sugar.
I think the key is moderation. I really dont think a drink or two a week of any diet soda will cause you to become sick. I've drank it for years and I am fine.
Like anything in life if you use it in moderation you will be ok

Rose: I agree with some of what you say the key is moderation.
You don't become diabetic from eating too much sugar, the key there is your pancreas and whether your producing insulin.
My granmother has sugar and was having alot of migranes.I went over her diet and found way too much of the so called diet sugars. She now uses NO diet sugar in her coffee or cooking. Her Migraines are gone since we changed her diet.Splenda is also in the diet sugar group but they say it's raw sugar.

Yes i know i can't spell.lol

Rose: I've got diabetes and have been to the classes and heard everything to know about aspartame and diet drinks and they all said that unless you take ALOT of sugar twin or what have you, it dosen't affect you. Also told them i drank alot of diet cola's and other diet drinks, and they also said that was fine.

Foxy Lady: You don't become diabetic from eating too much sugar, the key there is your pancreas and whether your producing insulin.

You're production of insuline can be fine, but if your body isn't absorbing insuline appropriately, you're still suffering from diabetis. Eating too much sugar isn't the sole cause of diabetis. But being overweight can contribute in getting diabetis. And eating too much sugar can cause overweight. So, indirectly, eating too much sugar increases your chances of getting diabetis. And so does eating too much fat and not exercising enough (physical exercise triggers the body to consume glucose from the blood).

AbigailII: Your Pancreas produces insulin.Your body doesn't absorb insulin unless your on insulin.Yes being over weight is a factor of Class 11 Diabetics so is genetics.Eating high fats and alot of sugar can make you over weight.Eating alot of sugar per se does not cause you to become diabetic.

Foxy Lady: Your body doesn't absorb insulin unless your on insulin.

If your body doesn't consume your insuline, you have a serious problem - a severe case of diabetis. Your pancreas produces insuline, and your body uses that to break down glucose. Resistance to insuline (the body doesn't take up as much insuline as it should) can be a cause of type-II diabetis - or it can develop later in type-II diabetis patients.

Eating high fats and alot of sugar can make you over weight. Eating alot of sugar per se does not cause you to become diabetic.

That's what I said.

Diabetes is a common condition in which the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood is too high because the body is unable to use it properly. Normally, the pancreas produces insulin, which controls the levels of glucose in the blood. Diabetes occurs when the body does not produce enough insulin, or produces insulin but cannot use it properly.

Type 2 diabetes (also called non-insulin-dependent diabetes) develops when the body can still make some insulin, but not enough for its needs, or when the insulin that is produced does not work properly (known as insulin resistance). This type of diabetes usually appears in people over the age of 40, though it can appear in younger people.
It can be caused by a shock to a person's system. It is controlled by a balance of tablets (e.g metformin) and diet.

Just made a wonderful low cal dessert guys.....Peach Tea Sherbert!

Use 1 tub CRYSTAL LIGHT Peach Flavor Low Calorie Iced Tea Mix in a large nonmetal bowl. Add 3 cups fat free milk and stir until drink mix is dissolved. Add 1 tub (8 oz) COOL WHIP FREE Whipped Topping, thawed and stir with whisk until well blended. Place in 9x13 pan and freeze until firm (about 3 hrs). remove from freezer about 20 min before serving to soften slightly. makes 16 1/2 cup servings, cal. 40, total fat 1g. Way creamy and good!

Emne: Time to wake up this board!
We have all had our Cripmiss goodies and gained a few here an there. Now that we are all back on track it is time to get back to our diets (nasty old word - I prefer life change myself!)

Anyone losing weight right now or wanting to?
Who has tips, tricks, ideas or even yummy snacks we can have while we drop those pounds?

I have been going to Curves for a little more than 2 years. If I hadn't found it I am sure I would have had a heart attack by now. My job consists of me working on my computer 8 to 10 hours a day and my play time is on my computer so you can imagine how wide the butt was getting. dumped 60 lbs so far and in the best shape Ive been in double digit years I'm happier than ever!

Anyone else tried or trying to lose and doing well?
Ive discovered the most satisfying snack or light lunch. Liptons cup a soup. Most are only 50 cals and 1g of fat! u cant go wrong there.. add a few low fat crackers and its a tasty satisfying lunch that allows you to have a treat as you dont use up many calories!
