While we're on the topic of FRC. I'd like to request Atomic Random Chess. This would avoid the deep knowledge of opening positions and make for an interesting game.

Emne: Re: Random Chess
playBunny: You can do that if you like, though there are a very large number of positions so it wouldn't help much.

I was referring to the "point" behind the invention of the game, not the players point in playing it.

Emne: Re: Random Chess
grenv: Surely "the point" of Random Chess depends on the person who's playing it? One person might value totally randomness; another might value variability with the option to specialise on one or more of the variations.

fungame: This is actually played on some sites, though the symmetric rule means you know opponents starting position. Better would be each side random and independent of each other. "Real" dark chess :)

There are more possible enhancements on espionage.
Useful would be to be able to mark opponents and own pieces:
1) mark pieces which I know opponent sees
2) mark pieces which I think opponent sees
3) mark opponents pieces with their guessed values
4) mark opponents pieces with their sure values

perhaps
5)mark with some user defined signs for some better association in notes

All marks about opponent pieces apply to hidden pieces so this could be done by changing their image.

Emne: Feature Request
Game: Espionage variants and some more game types
Requests/fixes needed:
1. when browsing through the game, notes are not displayed
2. when browsing through the game, even after coming to the end one cannot move without reopening the game or removing &i=move_number part from the URL
3. request to delete/modify a note, useful would be to associate it to move number

These things bother me for longer time already, finally I decided to put them here.

Thanks

Emne: Random Chess
Fencer, would it be possible to allow a player who creates a game of Random Chess to specify the seed so that a specific setup can be used (once the seed becomes known). This will allow players to explore given start positions and gain familiarity and expertise. I guess, though, that option shouldn't be available in tournaments.

Interesting statistics! I believe that Glinski's is by far the best of the genus of hexagonal chesses, and would like to see it here.

The graphics may be somewhat problematic to program, although Game Courier has a nice preset.

andreas : Best known chess variant with hexagonal board is Glinski's Hexagonal Chess. It was very popular once upon a time, with 100.000 board sets selled.

There were 104,000 sold over a period of 22 years.
We are at 63,500 at 4 years 8 months.

playBunny: of course its not specific...yes...thats overstating the obvious....to what point, who knows...
anyway..I am not simply suggesting a hexagon board game that uses all the same type pieces, there are many like that.
I am thinking of a strategy game with different pieces with different moves...like chess....I have searched...not found one really good.....I may create one.
I will get back when I have developed something.

Emne: Opponents list
How about a Selected Opponents list which, for each of a player's opponents, would show the game types and the wins for each player? I know that played games will show this value, but it would be great to have these listed in one place so that a player can see how they are doing against their chosen rivals. Ideally the game type would be selectable as well.

I think it could be interesting to if such pages were publicly viewable from the person's Profile.

When posting "data" the spaces are pretty much filtered out and the columns are not maintained. Would it be possible to support TABLE html tags within posts?

nobleheart: Inventing a game is a very different challenge to "simply"
implementing a developed game with established rules. It probably takes an order of magnitude longer.

If you want different games then bring forward the name of the game and its rules and I'm sure Fencer would be interested. Just a desire for (maybe) hexagons isn't quite specific enough. ;-p

Emne: fencer, whats your thoughts on this.
we all love chess like board games...many new variations have come out that explore new strategies..keep the classic games fresh, but most are on a board made of squares.
have you ever thought of a game based on hexagons.
strategy based on the hexagon as a base for moves is quite interesting.

Emne: I think I have a good idea
first I want to say,it is fencer's site.we may make requests, but we are in no position to tell him what to add or change.I just dont want anyone getting the wrong idea.

secondly tho,he seems fair minded & considers the thoughts of the community.
I think this is good for the commuity for so many resaons.I would list them,I sure we can all think of a few.

thirdly,a way of getting feedback without a lot unneeded posts(not that there is anything wrong with that) might be that fencer might have a page were he might take a poll on a subject or question say weekly or monthly.
he could provide several answers we could all get a turn to check one.

this would be a simple data input page..would be very easy.
what do you think fearless leader?

Why not to add a "random" colour for game definitions? Brainking decides randomly the color, between White and Black. This is kind for single matches.
