The Col: Legal.... I wouldn't mind the rich using them so much is the taxation levels were as they were before Raygun was told to cut them. But they are not.

As for Romney not being transparent... He'd be screwed if he acted like this in the UK. His election chance would be zero... Even the BNP (probably the most hated party in the UK) would get more votes.

(V): Going to the pub every night till close is legal , but wouldn't score high points for a presidential candidate.Of course certain tax havens are legal , but the optics are bad for Romney in this one.He apparently disclosed over a decade of returns to McCain when he was being considered for the VP job last election, I suppose transparency doesn't extend to the electorate.

> yet here we have a President who has had his lawyers early on seal ALL his college records. Why is that? No one asks that question because he's a liberal. Had Bush had private records sealed, you left wing nuts would have lost your shorts over it!

Just to remind ourselves, George W. Bush did keep his college records confidential during his first term. His records were released in June of 2005 after he was reelected. In fact, most presidents have done that while they were presidents. Obama's records are not "selad" by a court order but rather, they remain confidential.

"Obama’s college records are not “sealed” by a court order, as this graphic would have you believe. It would be illegal under federal law (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974) for Occidental, Columbia or Harvard Law School to give any former student’s records to reporters or members of the public without that person’s specific, written permission. Obama hasn’t released them, but neither have other presidential candidates released their college records. George W. Bush’s grades at Yale eventually became public, but only because somebody leaked them to the New Yorker magazine. Bush himself refused to release them, according to a 1999 profile in the Washington Post."

> I'm SURE there is something to the story. You don't get into Harvard with bad grades and Obama was NOT a good student. Something is amiss and denying it won't change that fact.

George W. Bush was by his on admission (and as his records show) an average student. Obama has never claimed to be a genius. If there is anything amiss with Obama being admitted to Harvard, isn't that a problem with Harvard's admission procedures rather than Obama's manipulating the situation? We have to remember that Obama was not born with power and influence.

As for the stupid claims that Obama got foreign student aid, that started as an April's Fool's day joke:

http://www.factcheck.org/2009/05/was-obama-born-in-the-usa/

Well, ultimately it is all immaterial. Obama is the president and running for reelection, whether right wingers like it or not. Likewise Mitt Romney (with all his qualities and potential shortcomings) is the Republican candidate.

Both sides will sling mud at each other. It is how American politics works these days. To date, both candiadates are eak in what really matters: issues that truly affect American society. Who cares about who the candidates are or where they were born when American sociaty faces urgen issues like the economy, health care, education, rising violence, etc.?

The worst thing of all is that regardless of who is elected, Washington will stay the same. Washington will continue in its culture of secrecy, lack of transparency, lobbyism, and the subversion of democracy by big, powerful money.

rod03801: Not even immoral?

"Perhaps if the greedy federal government were out of people's pockets, and stopped with lib regulations on everything, people wouldn't need to do that with their money, and COULD keep more of it here. "

Honestly, that is a really naive statement. Using Tax havens (and that is what they are) is just a way to avoid tax and hide dodgy money.

You'd trust a President who can't be honest over his own finances... Shame on you!!

The Col: "...power has become more importent than the health of the nation"

You have no idea what you are talking about. This is what happens if you only repeat what you've heard over and over and over again.

The newly passed health care law is simply a bid for more power, it has absolutely nothing to do with improving health care. Tort reform that would put a cap on how much doctors and hospitals can be sued would have taken a very good health care system and made it better. Even the legislators who pushed for nationalizing health care know this. If they didn't know this, then I've been giving them a lot more credit for having brains than I should have.

One thing is for certain, the main goal of nationalizing health care is for the government to have even more control over an individuals life than they already have... they crossed constitutional lines a long time ago, and have continued to grab for more and more power since then. Do you really believe that this ongoing grab for power is supposed to be in everyones best interest?

The Col: "I don't consider wanting fair taxation to be an obsession with other peoples money."

Of course you are obsessed with other people's money, because if you weren't you wouldn't want the rich to pay their fair share.

As it is the wealthiest people pay more than their fair share, so are you suggesting they should pay less?

If there was fair taxation, you would be paying the same rate as someone with more money than you. And you would pay the same rate as anyone who makes less money than you.

Everyone knows what it means to be fair, so be honest and tell us exactly what you mean by "fair".

Mitch McConnell even went as far as to suggest being non cooperative was the intent of the Republican senate, that does nothing but hurt the country, power has become more importent than the health of the nation, he should be ashamed

One of my sources (who actually exists) told me the other day that MSNBC's position on the latest heath insurance flap, the one that says Mitt is a wife killer, is basically a load of you know what.

He also told me Bill Clinton may be one of the speakers at the Democratic National Convention, where Obama will go through the motions of being declared their candidate. Now THAT should be interesting to see.

I depend on my unnamed but actually existing source to fill in the gaps of what I don't know, because I've made it a point to ignore most of what I've been hearing... there aren't enough Q-tips in the world to clean the crap out of my ears if I listened to the "news" all day long... every day, day after day.

Example of the lying left:
GST Steel had 4,500 employees in 1970. By the time they closed in 2001 they had just 750. They had been in business for over 100 years but had experienced a steady decline in profits after the 70's.

Enter Bain Capital. The plant was bought out and destined to close. Bain took steps that actually delayed the closing. Effort to keep the failing company didn't work and it closed in 2001.

Had Bain NOT entered the picture the company would have folded much sooner.

So how exactly is Romney responsible for Joe Soptic's loss of job and insurance and ultimately the death of his wife?

In the lying left's world, anything is possible if it can be used politically.

BTW, the former CEO of the steel company has explained that Bain came into the company and pumped millions of dollars into it trying to revitalize it. Other steel companies were bought and merged together but cheap foreign steel won the day and the plant ultimately failed. During the SAME PERIOD, 33 steel companies shut down due to the influx of cheap foreign steel!

When Bain closed GS Steel they were able to keep the other three plants open and thousands of jobs were saved. Where's the loony left on this fact of history?

The entire story put out by Obama's PACs is a lie. But that's what you libs do. And Joe Soptic is a loser. He's allowing the death of his wife to be used dishonestly for political purposes. What a low scum bag.

The Col: You know that for certain? There are too many questions and we the people deserve answers. This is a President that bypasses the Congress when he doesn't get his way and he's getting away with it despite objections from both sides of the isle. He's doing recess appointments when the Senate is still in session! His energy policies are forcing the closure of fossil fuel businesses and Romney is the bad guy for buying out a steel company that was near bankruptcy and he took steps to keep it afloat. But somehow it's Mitt's responsibility not to let a failing company fail so some workers don't lose their health insurance. People lose their jobs everyday and people get cancer every day and people die everyday. Everything about Obama is wrong (except for killing terrorists...he likes to do that). And now they cry out over and over for Mitt's tax returns while demands for seeing Obama's college records are ignored. The libs can take their double standards and shove them (be sure to remove your heads first).

The US has begun a project to help clean up Agent Orange contamination at one area in Vietnam - the first such move since the war ended in 1975.

The work is taking place at the airport in the central city of Danang.

The US sprayed millions of gallons of the toxic defoliant over jungle areas to destroy enemy cover.

Vietnam says several million people have been affected by Agent Orange, including 150,000 children born with severe birth defects.
'Injustice'

Agent Orange Victims Association Vice Chairman Tran Xuan Thu told the BBC that although the clean-up activities were "a little late", they were "greatly appreciated".

"They show that the US government now is taking the responsibility to assist us. I hope these efforts will be multiplied in future," he said.

"However we consider that the clean-up is separate from the issue of compensating Vietnamese Agent Orange victims, who are still suffering from injustice. These victims will carry on with their lawsuits, no matter what."

There's an interesting development in the never ending saga of Obama. Questions are now surfacing regarding his college years. Classmates don't remember much of him if they remember him at all. And knowing that his earlier schooling yielded bad grades, the question is being asked how is it possible that he was able to gain entrance into the best colleges in America. A former classmate is suggesting that Obama gained access simply because he applied as a foreign student. We know that Obama attended school in Indonesia. You have to be a citizen of that country to go to the school he attended. So it's suggested that Obama's mother (or grandmother) had his citizenship changed. If that's true, even though Obama may have been born in the USA, he was no longer a citizen and still isn't. There's a question about his social security number and the legitimacy of it. The story goes on but expect more to come of this. It's hit the airwaves and you know the Right will run with it. (except for wimps like O'Reilly...he's too much of a skeptic on these things). But others are already making waves.
