Czuch Czuckers: That I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with how your next game is calculated (should it be of the same type and you have no more games of that type, for instance?) or on your default option when submiting a move (if your default is "go to the main page" rather than "goto next game", for instance). But I'm just guessing now, of course. Better wait for an answer from Fencer if you can't figure it out...
pauloaguia: Okay then why , when I use the play later option, am I taken to the main screen when I have many other games waiting for a move? Also when I do go back to another game, the "play later" game doesnt pop up until after the second time?
Czuch Czuckers: There is currently one game that I am using the play later option, when I do this I am taken back to my main screen. Then that was your last game. Usually it should take you to the next game on your play list. Shouldnt that game not pop up again until I have either gone to the main page to click it or until it is the only game left where it is my turn? Like you said, you went to the main page right after clicking the "Play Later" button. So the games on hold were reset at that point.
I was only complaining about it not being persistent for the time frame I wanted. It seems like if I don't access the site for more than 30min, the games I choose to play later are also reset, and they'll show all up again. But even if it's just a second after, whenever you go by the main page, they're always back, that's how it's supposed to work.
I am not sure what the function of this is supposed to be, I read something the other day about it from Fencer, and it sounded like it should work better than it currently is. There is currently one game that I am using the play later option, when I do this I am taken back to my main screen. I then proceed to play the next game below this game (as it is still on the top of my list).... everything so far seems okay... then after I make my next move I am given still another game to move to next... still okay, but after that next move then the game I want to play later comes up again!!!! This is where it seems to be not okay?
Is this the way it is meant to work? Shouldnt that game not pop up again until I have either gone to the main page to click it or until it is the only game left where it is my turn?
Gabriel Almeida: i sent chuck and rose a private message my opinion is that personal matters between persons should be handled in private messages in the first place
now before everyone starts to interfere and we get 2 groups fighting (and a 3rd group watching, and a 4th group running away ;))
lets finish this 'discussion' with this post and if anyone really wants to say something else about this please send it to me in a private message (click on the envelop next to my name)
Jason: don't worry, i was being funny here, lol, someone has to be.this is to be fun and games and so many get up set at others instead of having fun in the games.
if one is interviewed, how long it takes? If 1 is picked for interview i think its up to them as they are the one answering. ... as some take forever to play a game and a year down the road you find you win or lose. It's there time till it comes to you.
not that i read them but the fight before is interesting. who like's who?who is rude or not, good point's to check out, all can and will be when attacted...
srnity: LOL, I was thinking the exact same thing! Its tough to publish something that cant be edited and will remain for view long after i am gone! But I finally just said the heck with it, you get what you get and I live with the consequences!
srnity: Thanks, but I sent it in a bit ago, didnt want to mess things up here ya know.... I hope Reza does a quick spell check and sentence structure check etc for me though ;)
Czuch Czuckers: I'm looking forward to reading it, but no rush.....sometimes people hurry things that just shouldn't be rushed, but savored, after all, how often does that ten minutes of fame come around? P.S. I think your pic frazzles people - I finally got used to it
Czuch Czuckers: you just proved my point. by being rude to someone who offends you, you loose your dignity and self-respect. i was not being cruel, hurtful, or hateful. i will not remove my comment because i stand by it. i will stand up for anyone that you are rude to uneccesarily like you were to rose and big bad wolf.you cannot just expect everyone to agree to whatever you say and not say anything if your comments are rude and uncalled for as they were with the afore mentioned people.
jessica: being rude to someone who offends me is my motto.... but telling me I have no dignity or self respect, now that is down right cruel and hurtful, and totally baseless, i would ask that hateful comment about me be removed please.
Czuch Czuckers: i didn't say you didn't have the right to feel offended but have some dignity and self-respect about how you answer and responde to people because you come off rude and defensive when you explain your position.
Rose: Lets not get soo ignorant on a public board.
What does that mean? How was I getting "ignorant"?
BTW, it doesnt matter if you want one or not, its not up to you, people dont ask for themselves to be interviewed, other people vote who they want to hear about!
Also, how was it not a comment about me, when the conversation was about how I hadnt completed my interview yet?
If you can answer my questions, maybe I will remove my ignorant comments, if I can figure out what they are!
Czuch Czuckers: that's the second time i have read posts on here where you've gone off on someone. if you can't post a message in a civil tone, don't post anything. it offends the person you're talking about and others who read them.
Czuch Czuckers: Lets not get soo ignorant on a public board. It wasnt a statement at you.. it was a general statement to those that run the interviews..
FYI. I never had an interview NOR want one.
I'll ask you to remove your nasty sentence please.
Maybe instead of wasting so much time if a person has no desire to be interviewed or take the time to participate they tell people in advance so there isnt a 3 months waiting period after they are sent the questions.
Just a thought... No one has taken this long to return the questions before.. It just holds every thing up
Tuesday:Actually there are a few steps before that! First Czuch has to finish answering them, NOT DONE. Then he'll have to send them to me, NOT DONE. After it I'll have to read it and possibly arrange the questions in a better order since I just sent them to Czuch unarranged, NOT DONE. And finally I'll send them to Fencer, NOT DONE.
Fencer: I see. I figured it had to be something like that. And since I'm not likely to move at least once every 30 min when I'm at work, I'll have to live with that. But I'm starting to find more and more attractive the idea someone sugested about being able to flag games to (not) move to at the next turn ;) Would certainly be more usefull that many of those "Move and goto..." options that exist right now (and would have probably avoided creating some of them ;))
pauloaguia: Of course, if you make no action for 30 minutes, the session expires and when it's automatically recreated after your next click, the session-only data are lost. Since the "play later" data are not persistent (it would make no sense to store them to the database due to their short lifecycle), they are not recreated.
pauloaguia: I agree... i think that if you use the play later option, that game should not come back up on your screen until you select it from your main page. It is very frustrating when you want to avoid playing a few games and they keep popping back up on your screen.
I usually have my games sorted by "time of last move", descending so that the games most recently played come first. This way I can progress on my games while my opponents are online, making the games faster (and easier to keep them on my mind too).
Whenever a game shows up and I think that I need some more time to think about it, I click the PlayLater button and it doesn't show up again. If in the process I go back to the main page, it's natural the games I decided to play later will come back again. However, I've noticed that if I take too long playing through my games (usually, when I'm playing from work where I play a couple of games at a time and then go back to work) I noticed that, after some time, the "PlayLater" games come back up again, even if I have some more games that still haven't showed up.
So, what exactly does this button do? Does it just put the games on hold for a while? How long is that while? Could it be configurable? Or is this some sort of bug?
