You go Kevin! I've had certain nameless people rag me for not playing games at their speed too. And shame on them for thinking that Customer Service Reps cannot have a life outside of BrainKing. I enjoy this site, but I have not played any of my games due to personal circumstances which is no one's business. And, I might not move on some til next week. So what? Its only a game. shrug.
Well based on the current exchange rate found on xe.com ($1.2319 US = 1 EUR) for the 56 EUR to pay for the 2 memberships you'd pay $68.9864 US, which is approximately $1.75 less than $35.37 * 2.
Yes, for two memberships (56 EUR) you'd double it. However, if you're not paying on paypal and just sending cash or something you could use a more accurate exchange rate such as that found on http://www.xe.com or some other currency exchange site.
Kevin, you don't owe anyone an explanation, you have done nothing wrong, don't let a few people ruin your game time. i think you're a fine young man.
then you say the 35.37 is correct, and then i will now go and pay it, and do i have to do it twice for 2 memberships?
thx. ellie
All I will say is that if I do not time out, I have done nothing wrong. I have explained why I play slower than most - if you can't accept it, all I could do is say it again which obviously will not help.
As for using my Customer Service participation to bash my slow-playing, that's just low and a poor excuse for an argument. It has nothing to do with my game-playing habits. Some will prefer to play fast, some will prefer to play slow. Someone asking me to play faster doesn't force me to, just like someone asking for $1,000 doesn't force me to give it to them.
It's been said before, and I'll say it again - the time limit is the time required to make your moves it. It does NOT allow for extra "emergency time". If you want to play a 7-day per move game, be prepared to wait 7 days between each move. If you don't want to wait 7 days between each move, do not play 7-day move games. It's very simple.
You say some people pay "Real money" to play? And you think I don't? I have paid for 2 years of my own rook membership and a combined 4 1/2 year rook for others and 1 year knight for others. At the current rate, that's 188 Euros (about $232 US, according to the current exchange rate), although it'll be a little less because at least one of mine was $28 US before it was changed to Euros. I don't think anyone besides CaoZ can say they've paid that much "Real money" as you call it. And I'll remind you I only have a part-time job that probably pays 1/3 or less of what you get.
I followed the link in the "Paid Membership" area (without actually sending a payment), but my total was around $34.50. Take a look again to make sure what total is actually shown.
Well you can view the current conversion rate at www.XE.com - and I just checked on PayPal, and the total that I was shown was around 34.50 US$ (28 EUR)
The only place I seen "37" was next to the "sellers" name, but that has nothing to do with the price.
i'm trying to buy a membership thru paypal, and it only gives me a price if i click euro under my rook membership, that says $28.00 and euro say's 37, and it won't let me access it unless i go with euro. is that the only price now?

Can anyone sell things in the store? I'd like to sell titles of books and chapters, all the purchaser has to do is fill in the gaps, little bit like a colour-it-in book.
bwildman: I don't say it iritates me. It only sounded to me as you don't trust me a priori and want a proof that I didn't spend those money for my personal affairs or whatever. If I was wrong, I apologize.
no need to feel SO defensive over a simple question, that I'm sure was of intrest to many of your paying customers.I dont expect to see your reciepts...nor did I ask to.I merely was concerned(since you brought it up) on what was the status of moneys previously raised,by not only LindaJ..but Stevie as well.
Here in the United States...we have a custom of saying thank you to people that help us.You may ave noticed this by all the well wishes..great jobs..and keep up the good works, that you have recieved by many.Common curteousy.
So in short..if my asking what happened to the money iritates you...too damn bad, because people want to know.
Indeed it is, Ian. I guess I interpreted it incorrectly. As I had completely forgotten that invitations show up that way.
I appreciate the reminder.. I space out sometimes!
Kevin, its not to dificult to see that if you do not move in a game until it is ready to time out, then you are purposly leaving a game until the last minute. You are currently purposly leaving over 20 of them like that.
Also it is very difficult to beleive anything you say, when you claim that you can clear all of your games in 30 minutes, yet have other more important things to do, yet you also claim that school was nothing more than 6 hours out of your day, and was so easy you had to look for extra curricular activities to keep you from being bored.
As a customer service rep. you should consider giving this site more of a priority, and if clearing your games is so easy for you, just do it for the sake of your opponents who are also trying to enjoy this site, and who you could 'so easily' help out.
Also as a customer service rep, you should be leading through example, not the one taking advantage of time out rules that are there to help people who are not able to access the site for whatever technical reason. Fencer does not suspend the time limits just to allow you more time for your more important activities. You claim to play on this site for enjoyment, and it is people like me who ruin it for you. Well, consider that there are others here for enjoyment too (who actually pay real money to play, not 'brains') And you are responsible for ruining their enjoyment. It is time for you to quit being a selfish kid, and live up to some of the responsibilities you have created for yourself.
AD, I think Steve has a point and players like that irk me too and I think the point needed to be made.
Fortunately I am currently not playing any stallers like Kevin so I am lucky. The main thing people are getting wrong is their interpretation of time limits.
Seems most people think time limits are what you should take between moves when in fact the real reason for setting a larger time limit most of the time is to allow for unforseen occurrences. ie, I bet I could play a 30 day game of BG with Steve and finish the whole game within 2 or 3 days tops.
It is time people started to be considerate of others when it comes to moving faster
Please note what this board is for:
Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing.com itself, its structure, features and future. Kevin has explained his situation and as long as his games are played within the time limits he has done nothing wrong. Fencer has also explained about the idea of setting different types of tournaments in the future (on the Tournament Board) without using vacation days or weekends.
