I'm not offended,Carlos...and I dont mean to offend Fencer either...but someone needs to be realistic here in cyberland.
Yes...this is a gamesite...one with some extremely talented players.But it is also turned into a cyber-community...were friendships have been formed.
Its the discussion boards and the fellowships that make BrainKing different from other sites.
Its a shame,Fencer, you dont get paid to run this site and play games and moniter discussion boards..but eventually,I'm sure there will be a paid BrainKing.com staff.
But removing features that were once there,features many of us have paid for...seems to be taking steps backwards and not forwards.
I guess I'm playing the devils advocate here...but in order to remain positive...sometimes you have to ask about the negatives.

I totally agree whith you Fencer, and to remark this is a GAME SITE, i see that most of the players are more concerned to chat and not in to play. Its not my intention to offend anybody, but take a moment to think ¿What its the escential of a GAME SITE???

try dropping the discussion boards..and see how long your members stick around.They are as much a feature as the games.Especially the fellowships.
It just seems unfair to me,that people want to discuss their future...and they have no input.

What's the problem with pawns unable to post on most of the boards? If they have a problem, there is our customer service on BrainKing.info. And I don't think that $10 is too much to get extra features.
This is mostly a game site, not a chat site. Discussion boards are just an addition.

Fencer is the final person to decide who is bad or not.

I have not seen any bad paying members for awhile (and when i say bad, that is spam message boards & curse and such). Currently paid members are easier to control, where as a pawn could keep creating new accounts and causing the same trouble over and over. (1 bad apple.)

Fencer will have to answer about the updated version 2.0 - and if it is still going to be awhile, it might be an idea to at least open 1 or 2 of the main message boards to pawns so they can at least post any problems or questions they have.

but getting back to the pawn issue...there are bad paying members! who decides who is bad and who's not?
the 2.0 version has been promised for sometime now..and no definete date in site! So how mch longer canwe use this excuse?

It may be that I understood wrong, but once BK 2.0 is out, Pawns will once again be able to post - I think it is just a temporary thing until Fencer can "control" some of the "bad pawns".

My personaly feelings about pawn accounts.

1. This is a game site, and I don't think the basic of game play should be messed with for pawns - that is up to 20 free games at a time, and 1 tournament at a time.

(and some of the changes I would like to see):

2. For non-tournament games, pawn can only play non-rated games. The purpose of this is to stop people from cheating - making free pawn accounts to help their ratings. Yes, there are plenty of good pawns who do not cheat, but in my opinion the result is better for the game site as a whole.

3. Tournament games that pawns play in can be rated. I'm still debating if (or if not) their ratings should be hidden, or shown - or including in the main ratings list, or not shown, etc....

4. I would like to see a pawn be able to join 1 fellowship as a "junior member" - that is they can see what is going on, read the message boards - but NOT join a team and NOT play in their tournaments. A few of the fellowships (Home, Madhouse, etc...) could be a very good way for a pawn to see what goes on in a fellowship and possible be a reason for them to become a paid member!. (Also with the rule that a pawn can not jump from fellowship to fellowship - but pick one - maybe have a choice of a few that the BIG BOSSes would like to help pawns, etc...) So all the pawn is really getting is another message board to read, but a chance to talk and interact with many of the nice users in these fellowships!

we all know the pawns can read the boards,and yet people talk about them like their not here.
I think not allowing them to post on the public boards is a blackeye to the system...and I for one,would be interested in what several have to say on the different topics that are onesidedly brought up concerning their future with BrainKing.

How do you know LJ, pawns cant post, so may have been having probs but couldnt say , and theres probably a few who do not use the boards ;o)

LJ often states that ALL of this is right or wrong etc....it give the feeling that he has inside information that the rest of us dont have :)

On occasion, the country does make a difference... on others it could be the city or even that street. It depends on the route taken and the hardware along that path, as well as your own machine and the server(s).

Ive had probs before that have not been bk nor my system, its been my isp lost dns somethings, and gave me limited use on websites, so was ok on main pages but couldnt get any deeper etc.
I guess this means Ellie could have had a bk problem even though others in other countries didnt :o)

I had problems earlier Fencer, telling me the page cant be found...i restarted and havent had any probs since...

when i click main page, i get page can't be found, when i go in thru my opponents profile and then our game, i then use the drop box, and that lets me play all my games, it works, so that's okay for me, i know it will be back to normal soon.

Why....If there is site trouble, and the time is turned off....does the time left in our games, keep running?

I was thinking Fencer said the time would be turned back on Monday - so anyone with 0 time left at that time, the games will time out.

So...even though 'game time is suspended' ... The time continues to run out on games?

I also use multiple windows (tabs, actually, in my case). Just because you look when he's posted doesn't mean you know what he's doing, nor give you the right to call him a liar. It's his business.

I also agree with the 'if you turn on privacy it's a two-way street' idea. It's kind of like some of the MUDDs ... If you want to ask where someone is, you must let them know where you are, as well.

Please stop posting about how many moves a person makes, or that they should get back to their games. Its off-topic and not particularly nice either.

There are plenty of sites where you can play in complete secrecy if you so desire.. It is something unique to this site, part of its personality.. It would be a shame to make it just like the rest..

I get 400+ moves when I have fast internet connection (which is about 1-2 times a week)

But out of the past 5-6 times I had fast internet connection, only once was BrainKing not down! It will all work out, and soon I'll be down to 100-150 games total (that is my goal)

You know, if people are so worried about me posting here, if you quit posting messages to me, then I would also stop posting! :-)
