Jim Dandy: I've just checked your BrainKing account with 3 different browsers and through 2 different internet connections. In all cases, all pages have been loaded in less than 1 second and I have not observed any other issues.
Ergo, whatever the problem is, it is not caused by BrainKing. Q.E.D.

Subject: Re:
pauloaguia: That's right. Because, given the nature of web-based request-response application, there are no online users at all - when a page is generated and sent, the user is "disconnected". It is, in most cases, the system level issue (BrainKing background processes etc.) which can (but it can never be said for sure) cause an increased allocation of resources which are always limited. But the expansion thing I have mentioned is more about "the OS could recognize that a smart and instant low-level reconfiguration is required and should do it itself" which is not possible, of course. It's more complicated (Abigail please don't start a too technical discussion here ).
I think the blog is a better place to post a detailed overview, which is what I plan to do soon.

Gammonator: Actually, the number of online users has a very low impact on that (as the meters and statistics say). It's more a system level thing. It's a pity that computer manufacturers still didn't invent how to make servers self-expandable.

Subject: Re:
NOT a floosie: I cannot resist to say it again, although it might be easier to link to the relevant posts:

1) Nobody expects people on any position to be there forever. It happens in every company, no matter how big or small it is, and it means absolutely nothing. Nobody is forced to do what he doesn't want to do and nobody is blamed for that.

2) No matter what I say or write, there will be always someone who would react "this is rude!" and no matter how many hours/days/months we spend on the site development and performance tuning, there will be always someone who claims "it is terribly slow!".

The conclusion - none of the mentioned points means that BrainKing has no future. (and how many people are offended by this childish smiley now?)

AbigailII: I have promised to be nice and not to provoke any further flamewars, so please forgive me if I don't answer the first question about keeping current customers and attracting new ones. I have my numbers and my opinion.

Regarding the second question, I haven't probably made the exact expression - of course it's only up to us where the firewall is connected to but, just in order to get a faster line, we moved our servers to another serverhousing company last year. Our meters say that the upstream line is fast enough to ensure a very good response, at least where it can reach. Of course, there is a possibility have our servers hooked at a dedicated super fast mega line, but it is not worth a tenfold of the current monthly fee I am already paying. Expenses must be reasonable too.

Well, smart people know. The others will always find an excuse to criticize anything what seems to be a good topic to them.
And, actually, if someone has been told at least 10 times "I realize you are frustrated, please kindly check your computer and ISP ... blah blah" and it has no effect, there is really nothing left except "Look here dipweed, it's only your problem you twit! Start to think and give me a break." I am always glad to learn new words, it can be useful in the future.

Fencer
Subject: Re: Is it just me? or is this site slower than a cheapskate at the checkout counter
MadMonkey: Your post is meaningful and you will get the answer (hint, hint!). And, actually, you have answered yourself because you say that the delay happens at the "transferring data from brainking.com" status. Yes, transferring! Not a page generating, no waiting for a response, just transferring of the data containing the web page source. You describe the situation AFTER the page is sent from BrainKing to your browser, not BEFORE. Once again, that's what we cannot resolve because it's not technically possible.
There are always many different possibilities of network related problems which can cause this kind of a slowdown, including DNS lookup errors, browser memory leaks, international line overload, a glitch in ISP network switches, wrongly updated caches of proxy servers etc. I don't think it would make sense to list all of them.
As I have said, I want to post a detailed article to the blog soon. Be patient.

Subject: Re: Is it just me? or is this site slower than a cheapskate at the checkout counter
Bernice: You are wrong in both parts of your statement because 1) you don't have the fastest connection speed (it is obvious), 2) other sites are not fine. Time has come to accept it.
