ughaibu: lately i am declining some invitations as i am trying to clean up my number of games before i go on a holiday

but since i am so used to accept invitations i automagically click on 'accept' (while i post a message telling the invitor why i will decline)

i am then very glad that i can still delete the game which i just accepted :)

Subject: Re: Re:
whatdidyousay: not hiding stuff on purpose .. but usually a thread starts about something .. which is the main subject .. and then slightly changes into a slightly different subject .. not too much difference to justify a new tree .. but still something different :)

i do agree though .. lately when i come online in the morning i saw 200+ new posts on the general board .. and that was just done in about 10 hours of my night .. i then read the few first of the new ones .. and the last ones .. a tree would be easier that way .. but still it would be easy to miss something you could now stumble on accidently :)

i have been on many boards which have the tree layout .. and somehow i didnt like it .. but it might just be me who might be old fashioned ;)

i agree .. i love to see all posts in a glance .. and skip which i am not interested in .. threaded boards hide too much :)

the reason for mods is because the owner cant be online 24/7 and mods could be able to cover the times he isnt .. and to split the work load :)

i can hide someone who is posting something naughty .. but there are children on here as well .. who might not hide anyone and still read it all

18. January 2005, 14:25:34
Hrqls
eh ? only mods can do a hide isnt it ?

of course we can all set our personal hides .. but that doesnt help if something naughty is posted on here

heh .. thats what the mod position is all about yet .. hmm not really .. the mod position is to keep the boards balanced .. they are the real wizards .. trying to keep the good and evil (fun) balanced in this world ;)

the ratings table is already a bit sorted by group .. but not completely .. the 2 froglet types arent together and i would assume amazones to be with the chess variants ?

hyper gammon is put inside the gammon group though :)

2 from the selection :
http://msn.mess.be/data/media/23/teddy1_ns.gif
http://msn.mess.be/data/media/23/teddy2_ns.gif

another category has some as well (maybe other categories as well :))
http://msn.mess.be/categories.php?cat_id=30

another site :
http://www.msnemotions.org/avatar/326.Teddy-bear-love.html

on this site are a lot of links to the metoyou bears
http://www.metoyou.startbewijs.nl/

on that site these are nice but might a bit too large, i dont know if they can be resized :)

Fencer: sorry i had missed your post ... i was probably reading walters when you posted it :)
on many boards its common use to do it like this

i am mainly visiting ezboards (but also some phpboards) where i am a mod on some. i never had people complain about a move. (ezboards gives the option to leave a link in the original place of the post which leads to the place where it is moved to)

7. January 2005, 10:30:46
Hrqls
*nod* thats what i mean .. to move them .. that way (like on the bk board with the chess thread) the posts would be moved already and people wouldnt have to scroll through it, plus it wont have a thread started on one board, then a mod tells to move it to another board, and its continued there (most of the time without the initial posts which remain on the first board)

(and it might increase some posts on the actual gaming boards :))

Subject: feature request for moderators
ok i am not a mod .. but .. i think it would be very useful to them if they could move a post from 1 board to another board, that way people reading the boards can be sure that after a mod has been by all inappropriate posts are on the correct board

(or am i trying to be too tidy online as overcompensation for my untidyness irl ? ;))

when i make a move in crowded bg i always add a note telling me how many pieces on the bar were put there by me (and are still left there)

(it would save some trouble though if it was somehow shown automatically ;))

what happens if the last 2 players make the same bet ? who will win ?

15. December 2004, 20:58:08
Hrqls
hmm ... that might even be more logical yes ... but not sure as those timed out players could have been the lowest bets as well

(what about the end : 2 players are left, player 1 knows he cant win and times out .. player 2 will then be the lowest bet and lose as well)

15. December 2004, 20:49:50
Hrqls
hmm i would expect to bet 0 when i dont place a new bet within the time out period ... wouldnt that be more logical ?
