Subject: Extinction Chess
This game is pretty interesting to play. But due to the border I can't easyly see it IS an Extinction Chess game. This game requires a total different strategy, and it is the 103,768,761.5 th time I played a foul move what should have been a normal chess move, but caused trouble or a directly game loss. Please help me by adding a border color for this game.

When looking at a Finished games statistics page, if you don´t have enough games finished, your name will not appear in that list. It would be nice when your score is visible, as on the avarage BKR and total BKR Statistic page.

Subject: KO?
When designing a knock-out tournament, players are sorted on their rating, tennis style, so the two best players can't match each other until the final.

Example for 8 players, call them 1-8, lower number has higher BKR.

First second third round:
1-8 - w(1-8)-w(4-5) v
4-5 ^ ---> Final.
3-6 v
2-7 - w(3-6)-w(2-7) ^

It would be cool if the tournament desginer could choose for a random position of players each round, like in soccer.

Example:

1-2 ---> the 4 winners are randomly paired up.
3-6 ^
4-8 v
5-7 --->

According let us say the best win, so 1,3,4 and 5 play the second round.

1-4
3-5
And so on.....

I think some BK staff should be also a Go-Judge, a player who can ''judge'' the mark dead stone procedure. In this game Go 13x13 (joshi tm - faith) I'm having trouble because my opponent refuses to mark her stones as dead.

grenv, tonyh: But who decides a game would be called as 'very lost'? A very lost backgammon game could be a less lost game when you manage to hop out of the opponent's home area or hop a stone out. This can save points in a Cubed match.

And alas, in real life you play never on, but it will be the loser who resigns the game and it won't be the victor who wants to claim victory.

By the way, what does it matter for you that someone wastes weeks to make their 'meaningless' moves? You have UNLIMITED games to play, enjoy a Brain Rook Membership :). Ok, a pawn will not enjoy those players, but those Gammon games will end, happily ever after.

12. September 2006, 17:04:31
joshi tm
Subject: Re:
tonyh: I don't think you can claim a game. If you are playing a game of Backgammon on a real board against a real opponent, would you go away with the words: I would win? That's nonsense!

Oh, and by the way, a game of Maharadjah Chess or Horde Chess with that 'claim victory button' would be very quickly then.

But there is a difference; there are Go-players who (when the board is full and doing a move would be useless) play stones in their own areas just for the AP's. I have also a game running where my opponent would lose but he just won't give up for his AP's (I think).

Back to my opinion: Just when you would win, give a 'good game' phrase that you would win, and don't claim anything cause that would reduce the friendly 'atmosphere' here at BK.

PS: I always resign a very lost game of Gammon, Go or anything else because I hate to play further in those (already lost) games.

PS 2: I've also a Go game running where my opponent still rejects my ''dead stone offer'' cause he would lose then. But I am really right. What can I do? (Maybe this is for the Go Board instead)

Hi I just won a tournament with random games, but I can't see it anywhere in my Finished game Statistics. Can this be fixed?

1. September 2006, 17:09:56

What about these:

Fellowship statistics(eg number of played games, won games etc.)
Cylyndrical Checkers which eliminate the strong sides of the board.
And a colored border for Extinction Chess.

I think there should be an option where I can choose how many games I want to pklay as maximum. I'm still trying to lower my number of running games, but nothing works, they just keep on coming. So if there would be an option which limits me to 250 games (or something else) (and I cannot make new games, sign in to new tournaments, etc.) that would be fine.

CryingLoser: I'm now also playing as some kind of 'specialist'. I don't like this title, I really want to do something about this, but I became too busy.

Subject: Percentual Scores
Wouldn´t it be a good idea to have another ranking list? One that states 0-100. At 100 you are the best and at 86, 86% of the rated players has a lower rating. I would like to see something like this cause I´m ranked a whoppy Forty-Seven at Legan Chess, but that's last place!
