Hello everyone.
As you probably know, there’s currently a massive fire in France near Bordeaux. I live about 20 kms (12 miles) from Bordeaux and 50 kms (30 miles) from the nearest fires.
Fortunately, I’m a little far away from the fires, but I can see clouds of smoke in the sky. There's a smell of burning, and at times the air is unbreathable. It's also terrible to see beautiful wooded areas destroyed by fire, and to see people we know—family members—to leave their homes without knowing if their house will still be there when they return.
I wanted to thank all the firefighters who came from other regions of France and from all the countries that showed solidarity by sending firefighters and water bombers. I hope this never happens to you in your country.
Fortunately, there were no injuries among the evacuated civilians, but sadly, there were injuries and two fatalities among the firefighters.
I wanted to thank the firefighters for their courage and their ceaseless battle against the fire. Thanks also to the volunteers who came to support and feed the firefighters.
