When I pinged www.brainking.com, the DNS resolved it to the new numerical URL, but got no response.

alanback: BrainKing.com does never answer to ICMP traffic, so pinging it leads to always the same result: Timeout.

alanback: For some reason, BrainKing never responds to a ping request. Don't ask me why.

Liquid has already told me the purpose but I don't remember it.
Anyway, http response is much more important.

Fencer: Ping requests can to used in DoS attacks. That's why some servers choose to ignore them, to spare the bandwidth from all the response traffic and save it to what's more important - the http channel :)
