Sujet: Main page invitations
I recently was sent a game invitation which appeared on my Main page as usual, but with a dialog box for accepting or declining the invitation with it. That makes it easy to take care of, but there's a problem. How do you type a message into the box when your page continues to refresh? Could it be made to stop refreshing while you're typing into the box, but continue to refresh when you haven't typed anything into it?
Just imagine how hard it'd be to type in a discussion board if the pages refreshed.

Walter Montego: I think that's a signal your messages are too long! ;)

Walter Montego: I think you can still click on the invite which will bring it up in another page which does not refresh so you would be able to type longer messages.

Walter Montego: Once a page is loaded with the refresh trigger, it's not possible to stop it.

Fencer: Ah, Then it is as it is.

BIG BAD WOLF: I'll try that the next time I have a longer message to type.

grenv: Yes, I can lengthy at times, though I'm surprised you didn't say my refresh rate was too short.

Walter Montego: Try typing them into notepad and pasting them in when you're ready to send.

grenv: That'll work too. The thing is I normally accept invitations and do not enter a message as it won't appear until Fencer fixes the first message of a new game. I declined these invitations and found the need to write something.

Fencer: that is not enirely true. If you use java to refresh with a counter variable you can stop the count down. I am not sure of the exact code but I have seen it done.

mctrivia: I use the "Refresh" HTTP header. It's not done with JavaScript.

Fencer: I know you do. However if you did it with java script you could stop the refresh timer.
