Crony Capitalism: More Obama Friends Get Massive "Stimulus" Funds

Chicago Energy Behemoth Scored $200 Million in Stimulus Funds:

Exelon’s top executives were early and frequent supporters of Mr. Obama as he rose from the Illinois State Senate to the White House. John W. Rogers Jr., a friend of the president’s and one of his top fund-raisers, is an Exelon board member. David Axelrod, Mr. Obama’s longtime political strategist, once worked as an Exelon consultant, and Rahm Emanuel, the Chicago mayor and Mr. Obama’s former chief of staff, helped create the company through a corporate merger in 2000 while working as an investment banker....

Exelon, which provides power to more than 6.6 million customers in at least 16 states and the District of Columbia, was chosen as one of only six electric utilities nationwide for the maximum $200 million stimulus grant from the Energy Department. And when the Treasury Department granted loans for renewable energy projects, Exelon landed a commitment for up to $646 million allowing it, on extremely generous financial terms, to finance one of the world’s largest photovoltaic solar projects.

Like I've been saying, it's good to know the King.

The real costs of renewable energy are coming
out—both in dollars and daily impacts. After years of hearing about
“free” energy from the sun and wind, people are discovering that they’ve
been lied to.

Democrats have always claimed that they’re not “pro-abortion” but only “pro-choice.” Really? Consider this report:

“With an eye on Rep. Todd Akin’s ‘legitimate rape’ comments and the GOP’s mad dash away from the sinking Missouri Senate candidate, the Democrats are turning their upcoming presidential convention into a pro-choice assault on the Republicans with the help of major abortion supporters.

“Just as the Akin crisis was reaching a crescendo, the Democrats on Wednesday announced that three starlets of the pro-choice movement will be featured at the convention, an event that will now drive the liberal charge that the Republicans are anti-women.”

In the perverted logic of the pro-abortionists, if you are against killing pre-born babies, then you are by definition at war with women even though half of the abortions in the United States kill girl babies.

Entering a woman’s body with medical instruments used by a doctor who took an oath to save lives have become instruments of death in a savage attack on the sanctity of the womb. It’s a form of rape that women consent to because they’ve been told that it’s their duty to uphold the cause of women’s liberation.

For those of you too ignorant to understand these things do happen.

This whole Akin thing is being used by the Left as a political hammer. Paul Ryan said it best: "Rape is rape." If a woman doesn't consent, it's a rape. Period.

Akin used a poor choice of words but he may have made a legitimate point. Either way, he shouldn't have made it. But it's ONE Conservative's remarks. Ted Kennedy killed a woman. You on the Left gave that jerk a total pass on that one. Even the judge at the time called Kennedy a liar. Akin uses ONE WRONG WORD and you phony lefties fall all over yourselves trying to make something of it. Bill Clinton gets oral sex in the WH from a young intern and that's OK with you idiots. I don't know what he meant by using the word "legitimate" but all thinking people (found only on the Right) know that there is such a thing as a rape that never happened. Maybe that's what Akin was trying to say? Don't know. He shouldn't have said it as it's a stupid point either way. But in no way did he suggest that a woman may enjoy a rape. Only an idiot would think that.

Alabama Woman Shoots Home Intruder to Protect Herself and Her Ax- and Knife-Wielding Daughters

An Alabama woman said she was forced to shoot an intruder that broke into her home this week in order to protect herself and her daughters.

Martha Lewis of Dora, Ala. told WVTM-TV it was about 3 a.m. Tuesday morning when she heard a loud noise, which turned out to be someone kicking in her door. Lewis said she called the police and grabbed her gun, then went to her daughters’ room and told them each to get something to defend themselves with. She said one grabbed an ax and one got a butcher knife.

They were at the top of the stairs when they saw a man standing there at the bottom.

“I knew when he stepped on the landing that I would have to shoot him,” Lewis told the station. “He starts like coming up the stairs and he said, ‘would you shoot me?‘ And I said ’I don’t want to have to but I will.’”

Ignoring her warnings, the man kept coming — and that’s when Lewis said she fired.

“It wasn’t like, oh can I pull the trigger? It was like when should I shoot? When will he be close enough that I know I won’t miss him? That’s one of the things that was going through my mind,” she said.

The man stumbled outside into the yard where police found him, WVTM reported. Police said he’s 25-year-old Michael Jacobs and was hospitalized in stable condition.

Lewis told the station one of the responding police officers said it would have been a different situation if she hadn’t been armed.

“One of them said we would be writing up a different report if she had not had that gun,” Lewis said.

Police said Lewis will not be charged for shooting the suspect. He faces charges of burglary and criminal mischief as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to WVTM.

Lewis said she’s had the gun for about three years but only for protection purposes.

“There‘s so much talk about banning guns and gun control but they’re for protection,” she said. “There’s no way that I could have fought him off.”

Iamon lyme: I really believe that the reason the democrats are fighting voter ID requirements is that they've exploited the lax requirements in some polling areas. One of their arguments against Voter ID is that voter fraud isn't really a problem. Well it's well documented and some races have been won via voter fraud.

I love it that Jules brought up Bush "stealing" the Presidential election. Bush had won Flordia and the election and Al Gore called Bush and conceded the election. Then AFTER that call, Gore changed his mind and decided to challenge the Florida count. The Dems got right to work searching for boxes of "uncounted votes." Surprise, surprise; they found some. Then there was the "chad" question. What a farce. In the end, Gore took it to the courts and the courts ruled against him. Then the democrats claimed that the courts gave the election to the Republicans! Wait a sec! They are the ones that started the court proceedings! They will do anything to win.

rod03801: It's funny that we have "phony, non-existent "voter fraud"" and in the same breath voter fraud from the GOP. Is it non-existent or does it happen?

It's clear from evidence that the Democrats in Minnesota "found" the needed votes for Al Frankin to defeat Norm Coleman. Coleman was up by nearly a thousand votes but the Democrats kept finding uncounted votes until
Frankin was up by over 300. Then they were satisfied.

Acorn has officials in jail for "phony, non-existent voter fraud." Maybe those officials are in a phony, non-existent jail.

You are right that it's a simple concept. Get an ID, vote. Prove you are a legal voter. The GOP is purging dead people, felons, illegal aliens, and other non eligible persons from voter rolls. The Dems wants those people left alone.

The liberals are fighting hard to keep voter ID OUT of elections. It gets in the way of their stealing elections. Now they'll have to create fake IDs. They will do it too and some will get caught and some will go to jail.

But some will still say it's non-existent. (interesting how, according to the Democrats, only poor blacks can't figure out how to get a voter ID - if a conservative held that position the libs would cry racist!)

Voter fraud is well documented and the left knows it. And if a person is too stupid to figure out how to get a voter ID then they shouldn't vote. I'm tired of the voter fraud. Do the left wing nuts only believe those on the right are intelligent enough to obtain a proper ID?

Iamon lyme: In a recent interview, Obama said that he is trying to bring the country together to fix the mess we're in. When asked if he's running a negative campaign he said no. He actually said no! When asked about Biden's "chains" comment, he said that substantively Biden was correct but that his reference to chains was unfortunate and distracted from the message. He must have missed the part where Biden was talking to blacks in the audience and claimed that the Republicans were going to put the blacks "back in chains." That's been the message of Debbie Blabbermouth Shultz too. And oddly enough, even with all this obvious race baiting, a tanking economy and record debt, AND the fact that a huge majority of voters think the country is heading in the wrong direction, the race is tied! Yeah, I think we're heading in the wrong direction and I'm dissatisfied with Obama's policies and wild spending but I think I'll vote for him anyway. When it comes to liberals, you can't fix stupid.
