 Movies, TV and Radio

General talk about movies, TV, radio, and other entertainment discussion.

Discussing favorite movies is a great topic but keep in mind some folks haven't seen the movie yet we may be discussing so don't give the endings away!

Rose: I was reading about some of his projects a few weeks ago. First I believe he is getting ready to shot Clerks 2. A "Clerks sell out" animated movie based on the short-lived Clerks cartoon is also still in the works, but that is still iffy.

I think I read that he still is not sure if he wants to direct green hornet or not (After the Jersey girl "bomb", I think he is a little afraid to take on another big budget film). But I think I read it was still a posibility, but I believe Clerks 2 is his next big project.

Nice to see other people as nutty as I am with movies - I have over 1,000 VHS tapes, and I believe I'm getting close to 400-500 DVD's. I use to keep track of them all in an excel spreedsheet, but I don't have the time for that anymore.

Duplicate movies - I just got my 3rd copy of Karate Kid! (First copy on VHS, got DVD normal edition awhile back, and just recently bought the DVD box set with all 4 karate kid movies in it.)

Have a couple of Clerks DVD's (Original and 10th anniversery edition), plus a couple of Pearl Harbor DVD's (Original & 4-disc directors cut.)

Summertop: I'm impressed that you wrote your own program! We use .asp in our work here but have never written a program!

We stopped lending out when we noticed some not coming back. I guess it is time for us to create a database of our own. We are finding it more difficult to recall what movies we have when we go to fleamarkets and find them on sale! We ended up with two copies of 'league of extraordinary gentlemen'!

Rose: I often loan out my movies to friends/family so I wrote a program to keep track of my library and who has what borrowed. The ASP page just pulls from the same database so updates are WAY simple. The program is fairly simple, but I could give you a copy of it if you want.

Summertop: Quite an impressive library youve got there (Kool that you have it in asp. Easier to update!). We have about 500 VHS we've collected over the past 12 yrs. Since we started buying DVD the last year or so we dont buy as many as I would like. Probably have about 135 so far. We normally go to the theatre for the big ones, then if they are really good we wait till they are on sale cheap b4 we buy em to rewatch them. The vid store loves us as we rent at least twice a week. We should have shares in the store!

Anyone see Ong-Bok yet? I heard it is amazing (no wires, no trick photography) But that it is subtitled.

Rose: Absolutely. I hate it when they throw sex scenes into movies...just for the skin of it. As for a rental, I almost NEVER rent movies. I buy them. You should see my library. May not be the biggest, but it is still growing.

Summertop: Definitely worth a rental. I saw it in theatres in Nov and enjoyed it for its entertainment value. Nice to see a movie that doesn't have the obligatory sex scene!

I found this to be a very entertaining movie. There were some "holes" in it. But, oh well. It was still a very fun movie to watch. I found it refreshing to see a movie that was put out for "Entertainment". It seems, to me at least, that so many movies now days have an agenda/message.

Troy did,nt go down well at the box office? I did,nt know that, but I like any decent movie that I can get subtitles on, the subtitles are more important to me, some of the top movies just have,nt had subtitles on.

Am I the only one hooked on this show?

Our house was plain and simple.
It was safe and normal.
It was nice and sweet.

But we all agreed we could use a change,
And then something happened that was very strange.

'Cause a van showed up.
All our stuff went flyin',
And my mom was cryin' till the job was done.
Now it's a monster house.
It's a monster house.
It's a monster house.
And we all just love it it's a monster house.

furbster: I dont know if they tried too hard for Troy to be such a smash that they missed out on something or maybe there was time constraint and a lot was left on the cutting room floor. It sure was missing something.

furbster: For such a simple movie it really kept you riveted. I was surprised by it. It came out on DVD last week so you can get it now.

Mousetrap: I saw both Troy and the Terminal. Worth a rental on both but not top movies. I heard Troy bombed at the box office.
