Discussing favorite movies is a great topic but keep in mind some folks haven't seen the movie yet we may be discussing so don't give the endings away!

Jim Dandy: I like Richter, but don't think it was really a mistake to leave Conan - I mean look at Ed McMahon - he is always going to be a "B class" star - never the top dog, but always remembered by being the assistant to Carson & his infomercials.

Even though TV and movies did not turn out for Richter, I think it would have been a bigger mistake for him not to at least try.

Dark Vamp: I watched lost for awhile, but they started to have a very strange TV schedule where they were skipping weeks - I ended up missing a couple of episodes so after that, I just stopped watching.

Now Dexter - that is an interesting show. I did not start watching until about 1/2 way through the 2nd season, but was able to watch every episode before that to "catch up", and haven't missed one yet.

Subject: Meerkat Manor
Season 3 of Meerkat Manor is getting ready to start here in the US.

On Animal Planet - starts tomorrow night, Aug 10th. There is a 1/2 hour re-cap show of the first 2 seasons - with the 1/2 hour season 3 premier right after that.

Now I'm not the type of person to watch shows like this, but this one has me hooked. It's like a reality show - with commentary to always keep you aware of what is going on - but since it is animals, they don't "preform" for the camera or anything like that.

Start to watch it - bet you get hooked also.

WOW - I just watched the preview to this movie - which I always loved transformers so I was probable going to watch the movie no matter what..... but figured it would be some cheezy type of thing - but WOW

Subject: Disney Movie Reward Points
*** This message is mostly directed towards US DVD Buyers

On recent Disney DVD Movies, you can get "Movie Reward Points" inside the movies. This includes many of the Disney/Pixar cartoons, along with the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Anyway, if you are buying these movies and don't plan on collecting the points - feel free to send me a private message with the point code.

When I last looked, the system they had to collect points was not very good. Even if you purchased every single DVD they release, you still would not have enough points for any of the "good" things. So I figured I would start to ask others who may not collect them and see if they wanted to share them.

So keep me in mind if you are not going to use & collect them. Thanks!

Chaosu: Well general discussion can be pretty wide.

But speaking of TV shows, does anyone watch Meerkat Manor on Animal Planet? I started to watch the reruns, and even though it is something that I would not think I would be interested in at all - it is very good. It's a reality show that follows the lives of a Meerkat family - but unlike "people" reality shows, they don't play to the cameras - the cameras have been studing the meerkats for over 10 years, so they just ignore the cameras and do their normal stuff.

Anyway, season 2 starts Sept 29th. (repeats of season 1 still playing)

The UPCOMING PREMIERES topic is for us TV views in America (and Canada) - not sure if some of the same shows air anywhere else or not.

OK, so I have about 86 now - and here are a few things which I think is something, but I don't know what yet:

the domino
green playing card
Gun & bullet on street (*** might have something, but not sure ***)
Elephant & man on roof (*** possible elephant man, but I'm not sure about that ***)
Castle in the sky (*** have something, but stiff iffy about it)
The red balloon
Black star next to moon
Guy in background, left of red phone booth with a bucket(?) on head and holding a flyswater(?) (*** have earaserman, but what is he holding? - still iffy)
The human figure behind this guy
Tiger
Sattilight Dish (if anything)
Something on top of the light poll on the left side of the street.
Something just to the right of the green "USA"
Plus next to that is the cocktail, but wondering if the picture is something also

Ok, had my wife take a quick look at it, and she came up with a few more:

birds - The flying birds
time cop - (police on the clock)
black dog - The dog in the street?
big foot - The big foot! (duh!)
Bullet - movies by this name, but I don't think it was popular enough
revolver - movies by this name, but I don't think it was popular enough
castle in the Air - Movie by this name, but I don't think it was popular enough

Plus my wife corrected me - it is not puff the magic dragon, but a movie called "Pete's Dragon"

7. June 2006, 04:18:14

Ok, and to add to my 66 with some of yours, I get these additional ones:

hook - Peter Pan movie
Crash - That was a popular movie, so that is the car's crashing!
Red Eye - Sounds possible
Golden Eye - Bond movie
Easy Rider - Sounds possible
Eraserhead - That could be it.
One Hour Photo - I was wondering if the "darkroom" sign was for something - sounds good
Precinct 13 - Sounds good
The Eagle has Landed - Never heard of this, but best I have so far
Raging Bull - I actually had Matador for the choice, but I bet both of these answers are correct (like the 2 saws which are for both Saw & Saw II)
Zula - OK
Blade - Sounds good

Black Hole - Hum - not sure if a movie by this name is popular enough. I'll keep a question mark by this one.

Boa (I like mine choice beter - Anaconda)

OK, now I'm up to 78 (maybe 79 depending on black hole for the pothole in the road)

So only 34 more to find

6. June 2006, 17:54:51

the orange with a dial really bugged me also, so I did some searching on that - A Clockwork Orange maybe?

6. June 2006, 17:50:49

stealth, bad santa (maybe?), taxi, broken arrow, The Rock, Triple X, se7en, 4 weddings & a funeral, mona lisa smile(?), casino, pink panther (at least I think it might be a panther - not sure what else pink it could be),

... plus on that scale, it has a 21 - so I did a quick search, and of course - the movie "21 grams" would be that one.

This is kind of interesting:

http://www.lovefilm.com/desktop.php

This place has made a desktop image with 100 film refrences - for example, 2 saws are on the street which represents Saw & Saw II.

I went ahead and made the image my desktop so later when I'm board, I can stare at it to see what else I can find. There are 3 different sizes to choose from - or for those webTV people who can't set a desktop, you should still be able to pick one and view it like any other picture.

The last comic standing will be back on NBC soon. Looks like they are going back to the original way, when the show was good.... luckly NBC did not drive it into the ground completly when they kept trying to get everything they could out of it with all their specials and such.

Also back on USA soon is the 3rd season of The 4400 - I love this SciFi show. A long clip (40+ minutes?) that will catch you up on the first 2 seasons if you did not watch. http://tv.yahoo.com/feature/the4400.html (starts early June on USA)

I posted this on computers, but after thinking about it - it might do well here also:

AOL has a new "TV Station" which you can watch on-line for free (High speed internet connection needed) - Looks like they have 14 "channels" which different shows on. Only quickly glanced at it, but felt I would share it with others.

http://television.aol.com/in2tv/lol_tv

The In2TV channel on AOL.com was announced in November and began yesterday with 30 series, including "Growing Pains" and "Eight is Enough." The network will also offer games, polls and other interactive features.

The shows are free to anyone with high-speed Internet access. The network is supported through advertising.

Eventually the company plans to offer more than 100 series and at least 300 episodes per month to lure broadband users to the AOL Web site.

The company says the shows will be available exclusively online and not in reruns on TV.

Subject: Last Comic Standing #4
For those of you who liked this "reality" show (like I did), they are starting auditions for this show, so expect it to be on the NBC schedule this summer.

Season #3, NBC "rushed" it and did no auditions and took the comics from season 1 vs. season 2 and it bombed, leading to NBC not even showing the final show (which also upset many), and finaly comedy central aired the last show so people could at least see who won. Hopefully NBC learned their leason and now going back to how the first 2 shows were.
