There is only 141 players left in that pond - don't know why anyone would have a problem trying to remmeber what one of their bids were!

Yes that's right, but with 11 being a safe bid, it makes no sense to bid higher than 511 which means going for the bonus is a very risky strategy.

Everything's correct.

alesh's auto bid was 1149 before.

Subject: Re:
Alesh started the last round with 1320 points, bid 1149, leaving him with 171, but also got the bonus leaving him with 671. If someone bids more than 671 in the next round, he will fall in the round after that. But bidding 671+ is not the best bid because there are safe small bids that will result in spending fewer points than the minimum of 172 you will spend even with getting the bonus. Still, I expect someone to go over 671 next round. A wiser plan would be to wait one more round. Let Alesh bid his full 671. Let him get the bonus and end up with 500 for the next round, THEN overbid him.

I'm willing to bet all my remaining points that someone overbids him this round. ;-)

sounds like we should designate one person to bid 501 so that we don't a bunch bid high and waste points.

30. January 2005, 21:10:38

I think there has been someone that bids over 500 each round anyway - not a worry for me. :-)

no, Stardust, I figure it would help us get back on track. One we 'dump' alesh, it would be every man for him (or her) self.

Why do people join a Pond and then when it is started they bet ZERO therefore falling in...Is it to keep others out or is it genuine forgetfulness? whatever it is bloody annoying :(

A non bet (or ZERO) should be the lowest and not take anyone else out (unless they too have ZERO)

Just my 2 cents

In this case you are the guilty party and until it was brought up by Arctic Warrior (who is getting an easter egg )no names were mentioned....I know you are busy but you have been on in the last 24 hours since this prize pond started....why couldnt you make a move, and if you had no intention...why join?

and I have read your rules and here it is for you...
***7) Every player who does not make the first move (after the run is started), automatically falls to the pond along with players who use the least amount of points.

***

again you had 24 hours....why join if you had no intention of betting:(...sorry Fencer...I know it is your site and you can do what you please, but it does take away from...in this case...Arctic Warrior

There is a game waiting to start that is -2 1/2 hours ready to start. It is for a minimum of 16 players and a maximum of 20, and there are 18 already signed up.

My question is, why doesnt this game start already? Since the minimum limit has already been met, this game should have started. Is it a bug in the system? It shouldnt have to wait for the maximum limit to be reached to start, should it?

If it's my Pond game, it is because I changed the time to a time that is already past - should start at about 5 after the next hour.

(Once I see at least 16 players signed up - I start the pond!)

It looks like you have a lot of work to getting people out of your pond who did not follow the rules... I think you should PM everyone and have them all bid 0 in the next round to fall into the pond. The rest of us can bid 1 next round, and then normal moves after that... I hope you can get this all worked out.

PEOPLE PLEASE READ THE POND DESCRIPTIONS THAT YOU ENTER, IT IS VERYFRUSTRATING WHEN YOU DO NOT!

1. February 2005, 22:43:57

hmmm...... well, unlike other ponds the silly rule was not in the title. I will drop out with zero this round. I wouldn't have entered if I had known.

I just looked at that pond (not in it myself), but I agree with grenv - Heck, I don't think I've ready 1/2 of the descriptions of the ponds I entered!

Here is a list of people who did not read the description of the pond that they signed up for....

Maxxina, Grenv, Nothingness,Hannelore, Fra, pedro, Stromovous, Beach, and Lindaw4.

If all of these players will bid 0 next round, we can get the game back on track?

Grenv.... how much more obvious do you want? It was posted in the game description, and also in the game discussion.
