BIG BAD WOLF: Regarding fellowships,if you have a fellowship,no one outside the fellowships are allowed to join,so there is no need to erase them, due to fact they can't join.

Skyking: Short answer is you can't.

Long answer:

(1) Make sure you put something like "(Fellowship members only)" in the TITLE. If you just put it in the description, some will miss it.

(2) Then before it starts, you will have to go through manually and remove any non-members who signed up - since there is no way to automaticly do it. (So also don't do a dark pond since you can't see who signs up)

Also if you know you are going to be gone for a day or so, you can try to bid higher then normal - a bid that will hopefully keep you in the game until you can get back.

It might not leave you in the best position at the end of the game, but can at least keep you in the game (and you have to be in the game to win a game!)

SMART ALX: I agree.... I think a good 75% of the games where I have fell in the pond prematurly have been due to me not being able to play my turns :(

I am sure I am not the only one like this either. I know Pedro said he had a slew of games like that when he missed a day or two. I think everyone will have ponds like this, so it isnt really fair to allow someone else to do your moves for you. Just take your lumps, and if you are good, you shouldnt have any problems getting your rating back.

BIG BAD WOLF: Its about ponds because those are the games clay want to let someone play for him....

It would be nice if Fencer or someone with authority would just come say that having someone log into your account to play a pond move for you while you are away from the computer for awhile, is against the brainking user agreement and therefore not permitted!
That would end any specualation about the intent of the wording...

    19. June 2005, 00:24:16
    coan.net
First: It's not really fair to the other player if instead of playing the person they are meant to, they are playing "ringers" - who may play differently, or worse - beter then the person they are replacing.

Second: Except for ponds (and new tournaments without vacation days) - On this site it should not be a big deal. Just set some vacation days and use them - there should not be a need for someone else to play your games.

Thrid: This is the pond board, and we are quickly getting off the subject. Can we please move the conversation to another board? Thanks!

Nothingness: Nonsense, contractual agreements between the owner of a site and the paid members are not covered by civil rights! We're not intending to put those people in prison, only kcik them off the site. Please!

On the other hand the point about a friend logging in is a good one, for the purpose stated below i think it's ok in moderation.

    Subject: misunderstood?
i think in special situations people can go in and makes moves for your ponds. the user agreement is intended to deter people from hacking your account without your permission. but if you allow a "friend access" then its going to be ok. otherwise message boards are pointless b/c technically they are helping you in your games as well. so if i wanted to i could call up garry kasparov and ask him what i should do for my next move. that is the same as someone having access to my account. Here in the Us it would probably be a violation of your civil rights to not allow another access. It would take a contract lawyer to figure out the complexities.

If it's ponds I don't have a strong objection though. in a non-tournament game you should at least ask the opponent.

    How's that?

ScarletRose: IMO.. if someone trusts someone enough to go in and make their moves so they don't time out in tourney games that should be the right of the customer.. especially if they are paying for their account..

he isn't going to just be gone for a week or two.. he ended up having to relocate for the summer where there is no connection.. and to get into town and hope to find someone with a puter to use.. well.. it isn't happening quick enough..

Now I am put into a situation where I feel uncomfy.. due to that not being on the agreement when I first became a member several years ago.. *Deep Sigh* I don't know if I should try and finish out his games.. or let each of them time out!

this is agreat learning tool. you must be bale to view games. It will also improve your game as well. In espionage though its nearly impossible to view games b/c of secrecy.but you can still track a dark pond if you are willing to put in the time and write down every move by every player.
