 Feature requests

Do you miss something on BrainKing.com and would you like to see it here? Post your request into this board!
If there is a more specific board for the request, (i.e. game rule changes etc) then it should be posted and discussed on that specific board.

Subject: Re: E-mail notify for New Messages?
nobleheart: To quote you "There are Chatrooms"

Nobleheart, I'm not sure why you felt you had to strike out at me with a sarcastic remark. In answer to your reply, I'm not looking for a "chatroom" as you put it, I was just suggesting a notification of New Messages. Another popular games site has this handy feature.

Subject: E-mail notify for New Messages?
I know this is predominately a Games Site and wouldn't want to take the focus away from that; but it is also a venue where people talk to each other away from the games as well as during the games. People talk to friends who they aren't playing just using the message section of the site. I'm wondering if it would be possible to incorporate something into the site whereby the "e-mail notify" could apply for when someone has a new unread message. Basic e-mail notification is already there as an option on "settings" ("Notify by e-mail if the opponent makes a move and I am not online") to notify when your oponent has moved, would it be possible to add the option to be notified we receive a new message when we are not online

Subject: Printable Version of Games Rules?
Fencer, I'm wondering if it would be possible to incorporate a Printable Version of each Games Rules page on Brain King. Today I have printed the rules to Jungle and Espionage and the rules took three pages each. It would be great if there was a link on each rules page so that the Games Rules could be printed out as middle frame only. This would save ink, paper, and time, and the printed version would be more geared towards just the rules, without the left and right frames of the pages.

It would be great if this were possible.

Regards,

Yvonne

Subject: Re: Bug for discussion boards
Just to confirm what BIG BAD WOLF says, I too have the new message notification bug on some of my favourite boards. On some boards, the red number will say 1 even when there are 20 new messages there. On a couple of the boards I am never alerted when new messages are posted (the BrainKing.com board in particular) therefore need to check that board regularly. The GC board tends to be unaccurate in its count of new messages under my ID too. Yet I know there are some people who never experience problems with new message notification number on their favourite boards.

Alice Chess looks interesting!
One version that would be cool to see is Chinese Chess (xiangqi). Anyone else play this?

Fencer, around 5 or 6 people have asked me for the link to brainking info as many people forgot to bookmark it when it was visible via the server news board.

Is there some way you can please link to brainking info pages from this site and also vice versa. The main reason being, to encourage people to bookmark the brainking info addy for future reference.

Thanks!

Uil, if OK by you, let's ask Fencer to re-instate the game.

Many thanks,

Subject: Trivia board?
Fencer, is there any way you could add a Trivia board here? I'm feeling a bit guilty as the last 60 or so postings on the General Chat board have been in response to my quizzes. I would be happy to moderate any such board and to post up quizzes from time to time that people might like to take part in whilst waiting for their opponents to move.

Subject: Re: problem
Fencer, would it be possible to have a board specifically for posting bugs and errors or should we be posting queries like the one below on the brainking.com board? It would surely seem logical to have queries and bugs directed to one board in particular, for ease of finding what the bugs are and also to get some idea if more than one person is experiencing the same bug.

Just a thought. How about a bug-board? :)

Keep up the good work Fencer. It's so refreshing to see a site owned and run by someone so conscientious and efficient!

Having the same problem here BBW, but with several of my favourite boards not just this one.

Even after I removed them and re-added them, problem still persists.

Did doing that it solve it for you?

Subject: Chinese Chess?
Fencer, would it be possible to impliment chinese chess/xiangqi here? You have some really good variations of chess on this site already but I believe Chinese Chess would also be popular; would be great if you could put that on your TODO list.

Thanks for providing us with this wonderful site and all the hard work you put in day in and day out!

Subject: Messages request.
Fencer, would it be possible to add a feature whereby we have the option to save "sent messages" as well as those we receive? Wonder how many players have sent a message after a few drinks and wondered with regret the following day what they put? Hehe.

Subject: Discussion Board Subject range.
Fencer, I was wondering whether it would be possible for you to add a broader range of discussion boards, to include perhaps some light-hearted subjects; boards where people can go to banter and chat in general, rather than specifically about the games. This would take the off-topic light-hearted bantering away from the more serious discussion boards such as your brainking.com board, and the boards relating to specific games. People would then feel more at liberty to post jokes etc and would have a place to go to post up non-topic chat stuff. This would also make it easier for people to know where to go to find that sort of chat and interaction within the site. Maybe even just one new board for "general chat"?

This is a great site - keep up the good work!
