Subject: Browser
Fencer Im well aware of how you prefer Firefox and often tells people "It works best in Firefox".
But...question: Some people like IE and Netscape and have used them for years so, do you plan in the future to "adjust" BrainKing so it works as good in IE and Netscape as Firefox or must we change to FF to be able to use all features at 100% ?

Andersp: I don't say that BrainKing won't work with IE. But if, in the future, an Internet Explorer specific problem occurs (and such problem doesn't happen on Firefox or other standard browsers), I won't spend too much time to solve it. There is no reason to support this Microsoft product. This is a good summary: Computers (Gordon Shumway, 2007-02-27 10:26:40)

Fencer: Yes, ive read that post in "computers". Not sure why he (and you) are so "anti Microsoft" tho. IE has never been a pain 'anywhere" for me.

Andersp: I used to use IE7, and decided to install Firefox one day when I had nothing else more important to do. Wow! Brainking suddenly went about twice as fast! Yesterday my wife opened IE, and without looking I opened up BK and wondered what had gone wrong with my computer and why everything was so slow. Switching back to Firefox fixed that very quickly.

pgt: The ability to show half loaded pages is a definetly an advantage of Firefox. However you should never willingly restrict a popular browser from working.

mctrivia: If loading partially finished pages is the issue, people can try to change some options in Settings that reduce the page size. Like changing the number of games that can be displayed in the main page, or changing the number of posts per page in discussion boards to five. Smiles popup also comes to mind, although I'm not sure if IE preloads this one as well or not. Adds may also have something to do with it, not sure.

I have many of those things disabled / reduced and the site works blazing fast for me on IE too, just tryed to play a few games and each page took less than a couple of seconds to load. The fact that the pages display instantly even makes the illusion that the pages load faster than in Opera (it's just an illusion, the timing is the same and I still prefer Opera, anyways, since I have much more control on how the page shows up than in IE).

ßăķëď Äłáşķǻñ: About the only conclusion one can draw from this thread is that the "PC" stand for "PERSONAL computer", and that everybody seems to have their own pet way of doing things, which works for them. I'm happy, and hope everybody else is too. Sorry for stirring up a hornet's nest.

So let's play

pgt: i downloaded foxfire and it was slower for me here as loading pages. on foxfire, there is no toolbar botton for brainking, if there was maybe maybe i'd try it only for here on brainking to see but i don't think it would be in my best interest to do so... if fencer knows something i do not, maybe he could share it. ie7 has never been a problem for me.
