Summertop: Inactive player should be any player that has not loged on to BK in 1 year. In the case of a Black rook they don't get deleted but they should forfet all there games.

But wouldn't there vacation days run out far sooner? Black Rooks have 40 days that means by February they should lose the game if they have not signed on.

It is more important for laders and team games were the captain curently could just keep adding them to games even though they aren't playing.

I'm sure I'm not the only one with games verses inactive players. Can these players auto-timout on their games?

Note: an inactive player is a pawn (or someone that reverted to a pawn) that hasn't logged into BK for over a year.

emmett:  I thing "GL" is a ridiculous greeting.  Personally, I think if you don't have time to type a meaningful greeting, then it's better not to type any greeting at all.  And certainly not an automatic greeting in the second or subsequent game of a match. (As somebody remarked earlier, this is akin to shaking hands between each set of a tennis match!)

Subject: default greeting
A lot of players type in GL at the beginning of each game. I play fairly quickly and start many games each day... so I don't always type in a greeting, although I feel bad if I don't. Yet greetings like GL seem so perfunctory... are these people really wishing me luck? (I should win more if the luck was effectual)
Anyway, I request that, in our settings, we can type in a default greeting. That greeting can be automatically shown on the first move of any new game.

Mousetrap: unfortunetly it is a security risk for fencer to allow the use of the img tag. It is easy to imbede code into the tag and viruses and can be imbeded into images. Not to mention the images could be of questionable content that fencer would not displayed on his site.

gambler104: We could write a php script for Fencer to see who is actively using the AutoPlayer so those people could be skiped in the move and play next offline option. Also Fencer can parse the user list on the main page for the list also.

Easiest thing to do though is always sort games based on the ones that will time out first. Autoplayed games will still go to the end of the list. Besides other then Ludo the autoplayer seldome plays on the same game more then a couple times in a row.

Subject: Move and go to:
I don't know if this has been done yet, but if it hasn't, I think it would be a useful feature. What I would like is to be able to combine two different move and go tos: For example, I could combine Fischer game with next game. It would go to a Fischer game if I had one, but if I didn't, it would just go to the next game.

I think all the games you have clicked 'play later' for, will show up again if you go back to the main page. At least it does for me!

Correction: It does work that way! I was incorrect. I did a test run...

Subject: Re: go to same game type
"Snoopy": One thing that would help, would be that when one you find one of these games that keeps coming back to you quickly, click "Play Later". Then, if you have your list sorted in the order you want to play in, just use "Move and go to next game", and it will skip any game you have clicked "Play Later" on. Of course, it is still wherever it would have been on your list, and if you click on the specific game from the drop down menu (the 2nd "Move and go to" drop down menu), it will of course bring up that game. But if you use any of the options from the first drop down menu, it will skip it. I believe it stays that way for your whole current session. (Until you log off, or actually make a move in that game)

You probably already knew this, but I thought I would mention it, just in case.

"Snoopy": Do you want to know a trick? Send a message with your move, and it won't play the game, because auto-pass will skip those games with a message for the player. I asked Hexkid about that. I don't like the thing either...

My other suggestion would be to play any game that is coming up... I see you have many many games that are going to be timing out in 5 hours! You need to play those! How many games have you lost from time outs???

Is there any way to make a link stay as it looks when you send it to the board?

I will try and explain what I mean, I wanted to post a Christmas card on a board and when I use rich text editor and insert the link I can see the card. But as soon as I click send it dissapears and all I see is HTML I know I can insert a link to a page but what if I just want to link to one image on one page?

Would it take much work to make it so that the image transfers? Or am I asking too much? And more importantly does anyone understand what I am trying to say lol!?

BIG BAD WOLF: That would be what I do now... I have an excel document with names, ID numbers, and information about why they are significant in one way or another.

However, that doesn't cut it when a name is what a person bases things on, and on BK it is quite easy to simply change your name. Does anyone take the time to look at a person's ID number, look it up, and verify that it is who you think it is? A note under their name in a game, their profile, or somehow under their name in messages of a DB, would be leaps and bounds above storing notes in the notepad or anywhere else.

I would be greatly in favor of such a feature.

Of course a way around it is to add them to your friends list and add a note there, or to start a list on your notepad. Not the same, but might be helpful until (or if) Fencer does this suggestion.

I love the notes we have in each game, but can we make it so we have a note that stays with each specific person? (Could be in their profile and/or in a game with that person).

I see that Plaintiger (message 550525) wrote a similar message a while back...

emmett & ScarletRose: They are in order of ID within the F/S. So if I knew that Emmett was 21467, I would look at the managers group until I found above and below that number and know that number is or isn't there. Then I would do the same in the players section.

I use Internet Explorer and I look at the status bar where the link is shown to see the ID number in the link.

I go to the main page.. and see that the list of members is about 5 pages full.. instead of having to sift through the 5 pages.. if I typed in a search box the name of the ID (s), I would be interested in finding.. it would show me instantly ..

Sometimes I either like to see if I have other friends in the FS.. or.. If I am avoiding someone due to their disrespect.. I would rather not join.

MadMonkey: I learned this the hard way as well by entering a tournament and losing every game, despite the fact that i play every day.

Simple answer for me is to not use the fischer clock, or if you have to then at least add a day per move (which can make the game drag on).

pauloaguia: I know lol, i think its alot more important than having ANOTHER backgammon game anyway.
What you meant to do if you know you only have a couple of hours left in a game, yet you cant move until your opponent sends it back to you.
So if they are clever and notice this, they wait till you go off line and send it back then, you time out
Something should be done really.

Why can't we know how much time WE have left in Fischers clocks games when the game is with an opponent, without having to look at each game ?

The problem is you have to go to the profile to find there ID, cant it be displayed with there other info like when you hover over there piece beside there name (Knight, Rook etcc..), at the moment that shows, name, country, membership rank, and gender, why not ID number as well.

I know its a minor item, but since everything is almost perfect here, there are only minor items left to fix ;)

When i scroll down my list of members in a fellowship and I get to the bottom and want to continue to the next page, I have to scroll back to the top again to change pages. It would be helpful to have the option to go to the next page at the bottom of the page as well as the top! Thank you!

RagingSeas: Actually, before the pond starts, when it is still in sign ups, it is sorted by rating. Once the pond starts, and it is time for everyone to make their first bid, it is then sorted by player ID#. (So, it's basically ordered by how long you have been on the site). Not sure why it switches to that on Round 1.

emmett: Sounds like a good idea to me. Shogi isn't my problem as much as Maharajah Chess. That game is pointless. Black has a forced win from move 1. The one game I played I had no opportunities to do anything. Considering the amount of people who only choose to play black and the winning percentages I am assuming everyone else notices it too. I am in full favor of dropping that game altogether.
