 Chess variants (10x8)

Sam has closed his piano and gone to bed ... now we can talk about the real stuff of life ... love, liberty and games such as
Janus, Capablanca Random, Embassy Chess & the odd mention of other 10x8 variants is welcome too

For posting:
- invitations to games (you can also use the New Game menu or for particular games: Janus; Capablanca Random; or Embassy)
- information about upcoming tournaments
- disussion of games (please limit this to completed games or discussion on how a game has arrived at a certain position
... speculation on who has an advantage or the benefits of potential moves is not permitted while that particular game is in progress)
- links to interesting related sites (non-promotional)

It turns out that 100 square Gothic Chess was written about in a letter by Capablanca to someone in 1935, according to Edward Winter. He was still calling the Chancellor the Marshall and the Archbishop the Chancellor back then. This board was set up exactly like Gothic Chess only it was 10x10 in dimension and not 10x8. Capablanca said he did not like the 10x8 version since "the Bishops strike through to the Rooks". So it looks like he examined but rejected Gothic Chess. Does this mean it cannot be patented? I think 10x10 Gothic could be played here anyway.

Don't tell me why I came up with the game then talk about me in the 3rd person. Anyone who talks about me in this way will be ignored, starting with you.

MRC to me = FRC to everyone else of course. My offer was to play 'FRC' on ICC giving odds of 10 to 2 for anyone who was doubting who I am. The doubts are posted to this board, so I'm answering them on this board. Other ICC games of mine have been posted elsewhere on here, and I already crushed someone in FRC here at super slow time controls. I beat your 'unbeatable' player on here at his own 10x8 game, many times. Who the hell else could I be?? Look moderators, not 1 curse word or religious reference or conspiracy claim. No just spare me from the weakies who reply with their own crazy accusations.

MRC = My Random Chess. So far I've got no takers to the challenge so that's it, subject closed.

I'll offer time odds of 10 minutes to 2 minutes of MRC to anyone on this site provided the losers post the games here. Contact me privately if you accept.

I told the site owner I didn't like ALL of my games to be public. I think I've got that right. I saw someone posting something about Trice and I posted that I beat him. What the hell's wrong with making that statement? And why do YOU think he is so good that I can't beat him????????? I sent them permission to show all of my blitz games.

There is one game I played with some other weakie posted. None of my other games will be posted without my permission.

I think in descriptive. I typed the game out from memory and I can always do this in descriptive. When I found out all games were recorded without my permission I was furious! I said I wouldn't be back unless all my games were private and unable to be viewed without my permission. I saw the post about him and just posted the game. So far we've played 5 times with another game being played later. That site is buggy as hell and has real problems.

Konu: Re: Pawn capture in Embassy Chess game
WhisperzQ: Machines don't think. They will overthrow a perfectly good line of play to gain 1 more point even if the replacement line is laughable. They drive halfway across town to save two pence on a fillup of gas, burning much more than that along the way.

Walter Montego: Machines have 1 constantly exploitable fault. They must make a move on each turn.

Konu: Re: Castling lingo and notation in Embassy Chess
Walter Montego: S stand for 'Springer' in German. The Knight is a figurine of a horse because of Howard Staunton designing the piece that was in the 1840's. I have seen Minataur pieces online that have the head of a bull and they're total cool looking!

I say let Chancellor become Minataur, looking like a bull.
Let Archbishop become Centurion (or General), looking like a Roman soldier with a plume in his helmet.
