I have just been to the Minishogi rules page to try to learn how to play before my first ever game starts and instead of a link to the rules of Shogi I found only links to many Chess variants.

Minishogi Rules

And when I clicked the link right under the statistics box I was diverted to Amazon.com???? Is that normal???

The ordering of the games on the main page has changed recently. I have mine sorted by time left, ascending. Games without time control used to be at the top in this case - now they're at the bottom. I don't like that
I am used to have a couple of games without time control which are sort of "privileged". I play them with real life friends, and I like them to always show up at first in my list. And I like to immediately play them back as soon as they make their move when I am online.
On the other hand I understand that games without time control are not those with the least time left ;)
I therefor ask for an individual setting wether to have games without time control at the top or at the bottom of your game list.

Dice Poker is similar to the popular game called Yahtzee.

This is NOT Yahtzee, this is a SIMILAR game... If you want to play pure Yahtzee, keep playing on paper with your family or play it outside BrainKing in any case!

So we take a game and give it a different name and that means that we don't have to play by the rules???

Can someone please explain to me how 5 of a kind doesn't equal a full house. It is most definitely 3 of a kind plus 2 of a kind !!!!!!

Game ID: 2344238.

I had to enter it as 3 of a kind
and now I have to go back and try to get another full house!!!!

Also I would like to see the bonus for the top half of the game in the Dice Poker version just like it is in the Triple version. When I play on paper with the kids we always use the bonus.

Please move the fast player debate to another board. This board is really more for the requesting of features, not the debate this is moving towards. The Members Only discussion board could use some action if you want to take it there.

Maybe iron out the details there, and come back here with a final idea of how it would be best?

Thanks so much.

AbigailII: well in a definition you would be a fast player as as soon as you logon you play your games quite fast

according to your opponents you arent though .. they only see you move once a day and dont care wether you are logged in the rest of the time or not

thats why, from the opponents point of view, i would like to suggest taking the average waiting time per game in which its your turn, but you didnt move yet (wether you are online or not) .. thats seems to me the best way to determine the fast-ness of a player (according to his opponents)

and split it over various game types please ;)

Nirvana: Are you talking about changing the language of the board? Where the language flag will change to what language the board is in?

All sub boards have that option in the edit for the board.

For the MAIN (first) board, it takes the language from what the fellowship is.

I doubt that people looking for fast opponents want to play me though.

Assunto: Re: fast player
i have another one :

average time per move is determined by 'time online but not moved in the waiting game'

as soon as you come online your time starts running .. until you moved in the game .. maybe the time is multiplied with the games still waiting for you to move ..

when you log off time stops running

this would determine the speed of move .. but not the speed in which you move after your opponent moved

(of course this could be faked by not logging off .. or by logging off each time you read the boards :))

Assunto: fast player
I think you guys need to first decide exactly what you mean by "fast player", then it should be easy to design the formula.

For example: To me, a fast player is a player who responds soon after I move. When I log on, it is usually my move in that game, and sometimes we are both online and we can make several moves in a row. If that's what you mean by "fast player" then just measure the average time between opponent's move and player's move in each game.

Assunto: Re: Fast Players
AbigailII: I actually agree, this doesn't quite compute mathematically. I would instead propose the following:

moves made in the last month / hours in last month with at least one move to make / total current games

I think this would get close to what we would need to decide who moves quickly... I'm open to any slight modifications though

Not many of you know that there is a running banter between Australians and New Zealanders over which country is better. Especially when we are in competition in sporting events!

I have been confronted by a Kiwi bird smiley from one of my New Zealand opponents and was horrified to find that I could not retaliate with a Kangaroo, Koala or even an Emu or Wombat!!!

Please Please Please can I have an Australian iconic animal!!! A Kangaroo would be fantastic!!!

AbigailII: true .. i only would like to know how long i would have to wait in average before my opponent moves

(but .. please separate it per game type .. most of the times i make my moves in the following order : the ones for which i have less than 2 days remaining time, then all gammon types, then all other dice types, then all battleboat games, then all games which already have a lot of moves, then the rest by order of remaining time)

Assunto: Re:
mctrivia: I don't agree your second point. If I come to this site once a day, and play a move in all my games, then that will be rate of play, regardless of the time constraint of the games. I won't play faster in a tournament that has a 3 day move limit that I play in a tournament that has a 7 day move limit. I'd still be playing 1 move/game/day.

Assunto: Re: Fast Players
pgt: The problem (as I see it) with your proposal is that it doesn't just measure the speed of the player, it also measures the speed of the opponents of the player. With your proposal, a slow player that plays mostly against slow players will still be able to collect "fast player points" - his opponents aren't fast so it's easier to be below the 10% margin. A player who plays against fast opponents has to work a lot harder to get below the 10% margin.

I think it's the intention of your proposal that the second player gets ranked "faster" than the first.

Fencer: I thought of a fairly fair play speed mesurment.

Speed=(Average Moves)/(Average Time Constraint)

This would thus result in a person that on average plays in half the time he is allowed to a score of 2. And a person that plays at the last moment gets a score of 1. Anyone with a score less then 1 takes advantage of weekends and or vacations to extend the fraime. This is several advantages over other methods.

1) If a player has 0 games there speed will stay the same.
2) A player that has 1000 games and a score of 2 can be expected to play every 3.5 days on a tournament with 7 day restraints and every 1 day on a 2 day game. So you can expect everyone in a tournament to play about the same speed.

Assunto: Re:
nightmagic: Then you clearly did not understand my post. I have 80 games at the moment, and in normal circumstances I work them down to zero two or three times a day (unless I have to go to a funeral - and what I'd LIKE to do is finish most os my games before my OWN funeral.) But, for example, I am currently in a tournament whereb one player has about 2000 concurrent games, and whilst he obeys all of the tournament rules, he makes a move every 14 days. This tournament has now been running for more than 14 months, and IS NO FUN AT ALL. What I was suggesting is a way that I can identify players who will not put me into this boting position again. If you move 6 times a day in each game, then under my suggestion you will migrate to my list of "favourite players", so you will not have anything to worry about.
