im unsure what you mean about resigning? so if i achieve 5 things in a certain game and at the end my opp resigns i lose the ones i have already achieved? That makes no sense?

Nothingness: No, if you already earned the achievements you 'll get them. Like capturing mines undetected pieces. But if the achievement requires you win the game ('rear of secrets' and 'first line hero') you won't earn the achievement if your opponent resigns... :(
