TarantinoFan: I'd like to point out again, that not everybody is having the problems you are talking about. I don't have them, and there are others who don't, and who stated it here right on this board. That doesn't mean no problems exist, but it makes it kind of unlikely, that those problems are on BrainKing's side (since we don't believe in a white list theory, right?). There are many routers and networks involved when the page data is transferred around the world. I just traced it, and my route passes 13 hops, but they are located in just two networks. So my ISP has a pretty decent connection to the ISP of BrainKing, I guess. And maybe yours doesn't. And for you and all the others a striped down version of BrainKing game pages and main page (like suggested by coan.net) might really be a great idea, to cut down the transfer time. I just don't know if cheeky posts are the fastest way to get it

BTW: If there are too many images for you to load - maybe you could turn smileys off to have fewer? Have you checked your browser settings? Does it have enough memory to cache all images so you don't have to load them again with each request? Because usually an image is only loaded once and then read from the cache instead of over the internet from i.brainking.com, and thus shouldn't slow your page loading time down at all.

Gordon Shumway: Maybe the solution would be to post a disclaimer to those in areas that are most likely to have sub par performance on the site. The lesser quality might be logical, but it should be sold at a discount.

Jim Dandy: Maybe if we level off some mountain ranges, knock down (or build up?) some cellphone towers, get rid of those annoying wind-turbine thingees, and somehow calm the Atlantic Ocean just a tad.....

Emne: Re:
Jim Dandy: The problem is - you can't tell that unless you actually are in that area. And it isn't usually area specific. I am on ADSL 3000, but I could easily have the idea to switch to Modem or ISDN or whatever slow connection. Or I could have the same basic connection speed, but maybe my ISP has speed problems in my area from time to time, or let's too many people share bandwidth, or whatever... There are quite a couple of possible reasons for a slow connection to a specific site, and you can't tell unless you try.

Gordon Shumway: how do you do the hop thing? I think it would be interesting to test it at different times and locations.

I rarely have trbl, but did yesterday. Like you, I agree that its the nodes and networks along the way.

Eriisa: On windows, open a DOS box and type tracert brainking.com. You'll experience a timeout though, after the IP address 212.23.50.58. That timeout is the BrainKing server. It doesn't answer to ICMP traffic, so it gives you a timeout. Thus you can't use it for time measurements, but you can see the route.

srnity: yep

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type cmd (in the window)
A black box will open up. This is called a DOS window. At the cursor type in tracert brainking.com and hit enter.

Eriisa: Thank You - how awesome was that?! Sixteen hops total, from PA to Washington DC, to Paris, to Germany, to Prague (no NYC - woohoo) ....... Can you pretty much do that with every site? And do they all "time-out"?

Gordon Shumway: I know that nothing I say is going to hold any weight because I don't

Cheeky, rude, disrespectful, baiting.......etc. I am only following the example set by the site owner.

BTW: Thanks for the tip. I will check my settings.

Gordon Shumway: Well.. I too have the problem with slower page loads.. not sure whose fault it is.. although, I know with all the cutsie stuff that is continually added.. it seems to slow my pages even more.. and yes.. I went ahead and refigured some of the things in my settings pages.. I pay for a high speed connection.. I pay 43 dollars a month.. which is about 3 times more than just dial up.. I expect my pages to load a bit more quickly.. which at BK.. it feels as though I am on dial up again..

Hey! I know.. it's a conspiracy against the US and countries similar.. LOL

Furthermore, I do have one observation I would like to state.. My family has been in business now for almost 20 years.. we have both motel and cafe.. Usually we try to be polite to our customers .. for if we continued to be sarcastic to them.. we wouldn't have them support us anymore.. Is the practice of being polite limited to just a few countries?? Is where Fencer lives a country that continually belittles peeps and down talks them like they are idiots.. Please let us know now.. so we can happily spread the cheer to all the newbies so they don't waste their hard earned dollars.. unless of course they are from Fencers neck of the woods where that behavior is acceptible..

Or perhaps it is his style of life since he is still a young man in mid 30's.. similar to the immature boys over here.. is Fencer also immature?? I wouldn't expect so since he is the master of websites.. and since he has a child I would expect he also knew what patience was...
