No? Is this not correct?

http://brainking.com/en/webtv/NewGameList

This is what was posted in webtv club by Rob & was sent to me (since I am not able to get into club webtv). Has this been updated? Because this one goes off the sides of my 27 inch tv, & is hard to read... And the headers are red.. or red-orange, or whatever you want to call it, anyway it is very bright... And the person that sent it to me doesn't like it at all, she says she can hardly read it because she can not see very well, and it is very red, & she said she has a big screen tv, & it goes off the sides of her tv also, she told me. I don't want to make any more problems for this lady than she already has, I am just telling you what she told me.

I'm not sure you (or most people) even know what I am referring to when I say 0.5% people.... from what I have been hearing BK is changing..... & it will lock us 0.5%ers (aka webtv/msntv people) out. thats what I have been hearing from people that are ALLOWED in the webtv club discussion board (which I am not allowed into... because I am not a paying BK member)

Why are all the move numbers lagging in each game for the first player? For instance, if it says you're on move 16, you are actually on move 17.

"Snoopy": I like the idea of creating some sort of smiley filter so we don't have to look through 400 smileys when I wouldn't use 50% of them.

Speaking of that - Fencer, is there a way that you can see how much each smiley is used? That is, is there a way to see if certain smileys have not been used much if any during the past 30/60 days? I ask since I'm sure there are some that could be removed and most users would not even know what is missing.

Also a suggestion - would be cool if a user could upload 5 personal smileys that only that person could use. For example I could upload Good Game smiley - http://coan.net/bk-smile/2/very-favorite/goodgame.gif - where only I could use it. (Of course each smiley needs to be approved before being uploaded - like user icons) (and of course limit it to a very small size)

krybulon: Lets go back to your original post...

what are you talking about all the time ? Why do we need all those whistles, fountains and special features for our games ? It takes so much Fencer's creative energy which could be used for some other stuff ...

All we can do is submit suggestions. Fencer decides what he is going to do. My suggestions don't take ANY of his energy (resources?). He can (and often does) ignore them. well, maybe not ignore, but he decided whether he thinks a suggestion will benefit the MAJORITY of the members.

I never use these brains, ponds, stairs, templates ... for what ? It's like having 900 TV channels while you need only 3 or 4 ...

so...everyone else should give up the 896/897 channels that they like and only watch the 3 or 4 that you like? Or should they not even be offered because you don't like them?

With all the respect .. please stop it.

How respectful is it to ask everyone to quit submitting suggestions because YOU are happy with the way BK is? Or only submit suggestions for games because YOU don't want to use certain features?

With all respect to you...feel free to NOT make any suggestions. But until you own BK, what gives you the right to tell everyone else what to do?

ok, first timer here.........

Not everyone that comes to these discussion boards have to leave their thouhts behind, like some, some people like to cover up their intelligence... or lack of it sometimes. I have come here several times but have never put anything in writing, does that mean that I don't use it? Or that I don't even exist at BK? I don't think so. & I'm sure there are others that read these & will agree with me. Some people say more is better...... The point is.... it's here, use it if you want to use it... & if you don't want to use it... IGNORE IT!!! ...... Is that simple enough for all of you or does someone need to draw you a color picture? I'm sorry if I offended some of you "girls" (I won't use the word I want to use) but whats the point of all this bickering about something that you can't control.... it is going to change whether you want it to or not, Fencer & his friends are the ones that make the decisions as to what to add & what not to add, and from what I have seen, he likes adding a lot, and as far as I am concerned, its ok, even though I can't or won't use everything he adds...... because I am one of the "0.5%" ..... AND a non-paying member at present. (some of you know what the "0.5%" refers to).

And what is wrong with the "virtual empire"? Seems to me he already has it here in his sites now since his sites are the biggest game related sites that I know of (not biggest in members but in playable games & discussion boards, etc). So whats wrong with the lights, bells and whistles... the new things people are asking to add.... nothing that I can see, if it can be put into a workable computer program, and if it doesn't slow the site down any more than it already is for us "0.5%" ...... I say go for it...... Sorry this is so long

Soooooooooo Longggggggg..... byebye

of course, u can create the whole virtual village, like casinos, where u can eat, sleep and play 24/7/365 ... this system works for you, but could you tell me what percentage of players actually take part in discussions ? few percent I bet. I think playing your games (variety) and leaving is healthier than playing, chating, playing, discussing etc ... this is just artificially pumped crowd ... I love this place what I told Fencer many times, but I think that it's getting too "populated" with features ...
Look at Amazon.com, they started with books but now u can buy everything from them and I do not like globalisation, wallmartysm and putting every possible idea under one roof ... in some point, control must be lost which will affect the quality and the focus will be lost ...

Andy.

Emne: Re: You know what guys ?
krybulon: Well first I would say that ponds is just another game on the site just like Chess, Backgammon, Jungle, or Frog Finder.

I would also say Stairs is just a different way to compete - kind of like Tournaments. There is another site I play at that I was a free member, and only once they started to have regular tournaments - I upgraded to a paid membership. Heck, on of the main reasons I purchased my first membership on this site was so I could create my own tournaments. Yea, the games I liked got me here - but a non-game thing like being able to create my own tournament was the biggest reason I paid for my first membership. Going along with that, having a template to create my tournaments would be very welcomed (that is if i could also add tournament name & description to template - otherwise they are worthless to me).

I would still love to see the brains / action points turned into it's own game type system - that is do something like you earn points for moves, wins, etc - but be able to use those earned points to put up for prize, wadger in game against others, trade, give away, purchase items like a personailzed rook icon (maybe a purple rook), or purchase the ability to have your own unique smiley to use that no one else can use. I could be a very nice system which the brains & action points just scratch the serface. But a system like that would also be something that would keep users here longer.

For example - what is better: (1) a user who comes on once a day, plays their 20 games then leaves until tomorrow, or (2) a user who comes on and plays their 20 games, then checks out the discussion boards, then does some other stuff, then plays a few more games since they are here, and etc.... leaving them on the site longer giving this site more opponents online at one time. Because without the "extras", people would play then leave. After awhile with no one around that gets a little boring. I can think of a couple of site which I like their games, but nothing "keeps" me there - so I slowly grow away from the site where I don't even start new games there.

I do not agree with you ... people are coming to this site because of diversity of games played here, not because there are Action Points, Stairs or Ponds or Brains ... do you want to tell me that you came here as a result of "googling" for pente fellowship or ponds, for example, or just simply because you were looking for a site to play pente ?

krybulon: I can understand your feelings. However, whistles, fountains, etc...are what gives BK it marketability. If it didn't have all the bells and whistles, most people would find another site. Fencer is not doing this because he is bored. He wants to make money. The games are nice, but the bells and whistles are what sells. I've seen web pages that offered games, but no pretty features. I don't think they are even still around.

Ponds are interesting games, stairs... well, I personally don't like them, but a lot of people do like that kind of competition... but I think I can understand you. It's another "sensibility" for games, and it's understandable... but I repeat, what would it be your bet, to use all "Fencer's creative energy"?

I love the idea of tournament templates - I started to play around, but it looks like it does not save tournament name or descriptions (which is the hardest part for me)

Any chance we can be able to have this information also saved in the template? For example, I would like to save in the tournament name "Fast Start - First 5 to sign - Backgammon #" - where I can then just add the next number myself.

Plus the description is always the same also, and would make since if someone can save that information in the tournament template also.
