crosseyed: we'll I can't say I fully understand the system. It does worry me the the government here is in charge of health insurance. In the US the law only benefited a small number of the uninsured. There were other ways outside of obamacare. Even with Obamacare, millions will still be uninsured. And it's anything but affordable. Most have experienced rate increases and millions were dropped from existing policies. Perhaps laws and new regs were needed but a complete overhaul here in the US is a mistake. Obama could not be respected now if he were able to run again. People are increasingly unhappy with the consequences of this intrusive law.

crosseyed: How does it differ? Here we have insurance networks or exchanges and if doctors or facilities are in those exchanges and insured person can go to those people. If one's "old" doctor isn't in the new exchange, then you can't see that doctor for care. And one problem is that those buying into the exchanges are signing up for medicare and are therefore draining from the system. There are not enough young people paying into the system. So far I have insurance through my work but I'm told that could change in the future. Still, my rates are up by over a thousand dollars a year. A friend who has his family on his plan has seen an increase of over 300 dollars per month. That's not uncommon.
