Sujet: Facebook App
Fencer,

is there any chance of seeing a Facebook application that can display a player's games (on turn) to him/her and a nice little banner to anyone viewing his profile?

Sujet: Re: Japanese Chess
MadMonkey: I don't get to play as many games of Shogi (japanese chess) as I'd like here but let me see if I understand the problem. You're not Japanese. You'd like to play with the traditional kanji pieces but you are stuck playing with the international pieces unless you want to lose alot of games while learning. I had this same problem ... and I didn't need a brainking feature to solve it. At first I simply changed my settings here at brainking to reflect the kanji but after losing a few games from moves that could've been avoided had I used the international symbols I went back to the drawing board. There is a great program out there called "Shogivar". If you can find it and download it (free) you'll be on your way. it uses only the traditional pieces and its playing strength is average. You can play game after game against it until you've learned the kanji pieces. That's what I did and it didn't require any hover=power feature here on brainking to complete.

eagle eye: actually the number in a specific country is unimportant unless you compare it with the countries population, the % of population with internet access, and the number of population old enough to move a mouse . . . I don't see a real reason to know how many players from a specific country there are playing a specific game. (half the time players forget to input their country anyway)

Sujet: match elimination
Is it possible to create a tournament that is single elimination but has three game matches? (example: I enter an elimination tournament of dark battleboats, I am given one opponent like normal but I have to play a three game match to decide the winner and the winner of the match goes to the next elimination round). I could see the benefit for both battleboats as well as gammon and most of the variants of both.

mctrivia: that's interesting, I could see where such a feature would be good . . . however, with the two player structure of the games here . . . is it possible?

mctrivia: I wasn't disputing the advantages, just stating an obvious concern (for me personally). There are measures Fencer can use to increase the security of a Client Software Platform, I've just seen too many clients that aren't safe.

Sujet: Re: Move Defaults.......
Badinage: that's not a bad idea. My default setting is "go to main page" but for dark battleboats (variant of choice) I change the setting to "stay here" I'd like to be able to "set it and forget it". LOL :)

it may be an interesting feature to show who offers to teach a game, of course they can only charge a fee if they pay Fencer.

playBunny: hehe, you mean your as lazy as most of us? (myself included). I guess I have no life but the extra few seconds of clicking and navigating for "ratings to rules" really doesn't matter to me . . . however, the "game to rules" link is a must (especially when I can't remeber is a dog can eat a wolf in jungle, LOL).

Sujet: change to game page
there should be a link to message an opponent on the game screen. (the current method is clicking the name and then clicking "send message" beside their name in their profile). This change sounds almost silly at first, right up until you have to deal with a dial-up connection on an extra page.
