I just received (at 9AM) a message saying I'm the winner of a tournament, with the text "you are the winner of this tournament". However it does not say which tournament. Moreover, yesterday I had 31 running tournaments and today I have... 31 running tournaments (I don't remember starting any new one). Is this a "spam" message, a bug, etc.?

Instead of showing the picture of a black piece pinning a white piece, because that image is missing, it shows nothing or just the white piece.
I'm not saying this makes it any better, it is clearly unplayable.
Just understand that the issue is solely the missing images.

Sujet: plakoto
For years I said that plakoto had a bug and was told there was "not a bug!"
Nobody told me to switch the setting.

It seems that the small board does display the game so you know which piece is covered and which is doing the the covering. Small board does look really ugly btw. Large board still has the same bug of hiding the pieces and not showing which piece is covered and by how many (unless fixed while my post was written)! Only trial and error or playing through the game history would tell you what is going on!
Why the big board doesn't function as the small board is annoying I wasted a lot of time using trial and error to work out what going on!

So I take it for granted.

Regarding Plakoto, it is true that some images are missing, mostly because they are specific to Plakoto only (mixed white and black pieces) and I had probably forgotten to create them. When I have some time, I will look at it.

i will follow the plakoto problem on the specific board... but sincerely, the game settings are already set AT SMALL, since beginning and how can i play properly plakoto, if i can't see the right situation? and there are also plakoto games which works properly...

so thx again Fencer for your precious time, i came to you cause i didn't get any answer from your tech support, since i told them that my settings are already at small position... so another player gave me the hint to email you directly...

Fencer: Oops, I posted 5 seconds later than you :-)

Take a closer look at those Plakoto games, though. It does look like something is wrong. The same thing happens when I play through some of my older games, which suggests that it is a recent problem with the graphics, not the gameplay.

Sujet: Re: ERRORS of RUNNING fevga and plakoto games
speachless: The Fevga game I can explain: You can't make a legal move with the 6-6 roll.  "A player's first checker must pass the opponent's starting point before he may move any of his other checkers."

The Plakoto thing is funny, it actually looks like a piece disappears. But if you play on, the piece reappears when the trapping piece moves away. I guess it is (yet another) problem with the special image files used in Plakoto.

The problem used to be that some of those image files were missing. That meant that you had to set the game settings for backgammon type games to the smaller version - if you didn't, sometimes some tiles of the plakoto board would not show at all. That's probably why you were told to change the settings. But it seems that now some image files have been swapped around somehow, the result being that some trapped pieces don't show on the screen. This should be fixed.

speachless: Interesting. How many times have you read the Fevga rules before you started to fill my mailbox with "typical problems"?

Let me quote something:

"A player's first checker must pass the opponent's starting point before he may move any of his other checkers."

That explains the 6-6 "bug", right?

I would like to add that Plakoto and Fevga had been introduced here in February 2008, more than 4 years ago. I am sure that if these variants were as flawed as you suggest, some poeple would have probably noticed that a long time ago.

The bottom line - there is a special Backgammon discussion board which should be used for any further comments or questions. I don't doubt that regular backgammon players would give you any explanations better (and faster) than me.

Sujet: fevga and plakoto errors
hi all, at first i hope you understand my english, that is more puzzled together as anything else...

since a week i had to report 6 plakoto and 2 fevga games to the tech staff because rolls were processed wrongly....

fevga-typical problems are: 2 rolls of 6+6 and 5+5 couldn't been played by the opponent, he had to pass over to me, even if we were already since min. 3 moves running the game, so it wasn't a pass over at beginning of a random game.... he you can see an example of the last passed roll:
Fevga (SolidGold vs. speachless)

at plakoto:
instead of trapping an opponents piece, you hit it, this happened on 6 different plakoto boards...

i went over some archived plakoto games and there i can see the problem sometimes too...

i'm interested if you are making similar experiences....

tech support told me to set the backgammon game setting to smal sized....but it was already, it's not that problem....

thx

With ludo games you still have to "find" a piece to click.  I still think twenty or so unrated uncounted linetris games with a fischer clock of .1/.1/.1 will do the trick better than any game out there.  Just keep clicking in the bottom row and you can go forever...  literally...  or until one of you stops playing.  :-)

King Pyrhus: to make 10k moves a day you could start a LOT of easy games like ludo for example with various fast playing opponents, in different parts of the world, to make sure someone will play at your night time as well:)

then as you calculated : there are more than 80k seconds in 24 hours, so you have more than 8 seconds per move .. which is more than enough in easy games

the main point is : your have to make sure you always have games waiting for your move, so you need a lot of games, and fast playing opponents

Yes, the 10,000 one is indeed in one day. (Server time - which is of course important)

The other is 100,000 - and that is in general, over time.

I think there was some confusion, earlier in the thread between these 2.

Sujet: 10,000 move achievement
I'm curious as to how anyone manages to achieve this...
I can think of some strategies that a person might use if they wanted to get the achievement but I am interested in how people have specifically managed to do it.
86,400 seconds in a 24hour period, so 8.64 seconds maximum per move if one plays for 24 hours non -stop.
Perhaps if one knows someone else who also has the desire to achieve it one keep just continue playing against that person solidly. If one picked a game like go, one could make a lot of moves before having to chew up valuable seconds starting a new game. If one set the game to being a match with the highest possible number of games it would reduce the time spent creating or finding new games.
It would help if one was a Black Rook, so that one could create as many games as possible in advance of the 24 hour period beginning.
If the two players memorised the series of moves for an entire game, I suppose they could just keep replaying the same game over and over again - thus saving time by being able to make their moves as eflex actions...
I would welcome others thoughts about the subject or experience of having completed this achievement.
Thanks,
King Pyrhus
