whats the effect on the bkr for a newly added game on the site ? is it better for your bkr to wait until your opponents have at least a (prof) ranking ? or is it just as good for the bkr to play other players who play the game for the first time ?

we had great fun with some fast hyper gammon games yesterday .. but it seems that players who joined the fun later have a higher bkr now although they have the same ratio of won/loss games (or even worse ;))

Right now you can Hrqs.
But it might not be that way long.

I am waiting an extra 30 days for a player who has been kicked off the site to time out!

can we use more than 5 auto vacation days directly after another ? or do i have to set them manually and fixed (end of february- begin march) ?

13. Janvier 2005, 22:10:04
Jason
i have wondered the same thing bbw , havent left the games long enough without moving them back to find out

Sujet: Re:
Jason: That is interesting. I wonder if I were to set 30 days worth of vacation, play all my games so when they come back on the game sheet with those 30 days worth of vacations - what would happen if I then go and remove all the vacation days.

Since they would already be on my game sheet with the 30 days vacation, would that still be there, or would the normal time out still be there.

I've never heard about what you are talking about Jason - then again, I now just let auto vacation take effect if I need it.

Hrqls
i have seen other players not play ... while their time was ticking .. their time got negative .. to a max of -10 minutes .. and then they had a day added.

the server checks for timeouts every 10 minutes .. if it finds any .. it checks if there are any (auto) vacation days to be used .. if so .. a day is added

i dont know what happens when you have 2 games timing out though .. will it use 2 days ? or is a day added to all your games ? *ponder*

13. Janvier 2005, 21:46:31
Jason
I know that if i set vacation days then move the game when it comes back it has the extended time ..now if i dont move the game i presume that after the next update of the site (script run or what ever its called) the time will also be updated ...but i have not actually tested that far .. but either way auto vacation would take over if its set

coan.net
I agree with you Chessmaster 1000, I liked it a lot beter when it would be added to the main page also.

BUT I think the change was mostly done for performance reasons on the server side - rather then having to calculate if vacations is there while displaying every line of turns on the main page, but now only when the "time out" script runs. Fencer has done many of these "little things" to help the performance of the server, and the site has been doing very good recently!

Ok, Jason. But you say: after you make a move, then the time will change. I don't think you support that if i don't make a move then the time WILL NOT change? Do you sya that?
Or with other words what is your opinion about: "if i don't play a move then the time will not change........."?

BIG BAD WOLF put it perfectly, please Jason clarify to be sure............

Chessmaster1000: i didnt truely trust it either (because the times didnt move strait away) but i have just tested it on a one day time limit , came back with 18 days left to move so works ok ;)

Hmmm OK thanks, but why this change.......? I can't fully trust it now although i know it will do its job.

Chessmaster1000: the times on your main page wont change ...untill you have made a move with the game ...once it comes back it will have the days added to the time limit , whether you have auto vacation set or not

13. Janvier 2005, 21:21:38
coan.net
That is correct - you will no longer see the time actually change on the game sheet to take in effect vacations. What happens is when the time "runs out", the script will check if you have a vacation set (or auto vacation set), and if so - will add 24 hours at that time.

Sujet: Fencer............
I have one question about Vacation days: I add 1,2,3......it doesn't matter how many, BUT the time until the game's expiration doesn't change (Actually it doesn't seem to change -- it doesn't appear at main page timings).

For example the closest game now to expire is at 16 hours. And the second at 1 days and 5 hours. When i add one vacation day (i have activated the auto vacation if this matters) the main page times doesn't change at all. The closest game to expire remains at 16 hours and the second at 1 days and 5 hours.
While it should be for the closest game to expire at 1 day and 16 hours and for the second at 2 days and 5 hours.

Why this is not happening............? Is it normal...........? Does anything to do with auto vacation...........?

IN pro 5 in line, its supposed to be x's and o's, but I have the typical black and white circles like in regular 5 in line.

I was looking at a move but hadn't submitted it, neither had I cancelled it, at that point I reviewed the game from the start and was lead up to the move I was considering which had become a submited move. I'll post on bugs, but.
