correct, but due tobug in game it doesn't force your opponent to have to move. Trying indicating to him that he is not playing entirely within the rules and he may move.

I'm not sure if this is where I post this, but can I get a clarification of the FEVGA rule for the following game. The rule in question is the 2nd to the last bullet: "It is allowed to build a prime (six consecutive blocked points) anywhere else (not in the player's starting quarter), but if opponent has collected all his checkers onto the one point behind player's prime, the player must unblock a point in his prime to allow the opponent a chance to move".

Does my opponent need to move a checker, as all of my checkers stand on one point behind his? I have now had to pass already.

winterangels: you can only have two games in a stair at the same time, and only if you were invited for one and made the invitation for the other. If you started the game you're in, you can't start another until you finish that one.

I've just sent an invite to a member of my fellowship and he claims not to have received it. It was definitely him I sent it to and I checked the box. Is there a delay with the sending of invites, or might there be something I've done wrong?

rod03801:  usually I believe you have to have 4 slots available in order to play in a tournament if you are a pawn

winterangels: Your subject says "Stairs", yet you talk about being kicked out of a Tournament. So, I'm not sure what your issue is exactly. On your profile, I see you are indeed in one set of stairs, and were not kicked out. As a Pawn, you are only allowed in one set of Stairs. So that seems to be fine.

You currently have 19 games going. As a pawn, your limit is 20. To join a tournament, as a pawn, you DO have to have a certain number of free slots. I honestly don't remember how many that is. (4 or 5? I would imagine if it's "Single Elimination" that one slot would be fine) But I bet someone else does recall the exact requirement, and will say so. If you do not have enough slots, you will indeed not be allowed to start the tournament.

Why did I get kicked out of my tournament...It don't say that u have to have empty slots to keep playing a game..i think its unfair that I got kicked out of my tournament..

winterangels: maybe the game was part of a multi-game match? you won the game but didnt win the match yet?

winterangels: Someone might be able to help if you say which game it is. Your Finished Games tab in your profile only shows one game ending last night, and that was anti-reversi, and you actually did not win that game.

Carpe Diem: I think the point is to split seeded players. The second best starts at the bottom and so on. Wha it means is the best player always has white and the second best always black. Hardly fair in games where white has a big advantage.

Raistlin: Thanks! That seems to be an equally bizarre option. When I look at the tourneys in question, they say "Sort by BKR: No", but it sure appears that they all are sorted that way, so perhaps that's displaying incorrectly. 

Carpe Diem:

"For games with a random start position generate" just means same start position for all games of the tourn (froglet, pah tum ... have random start position for example), its not about players colors at all.

But if you are very high ranked in a game, elimination tourns ranked by bkr (optional) will put you always at the top of the tourn grid, so you will start all games (example : five in a line, you will have black in all games)..

The problem is this option ('ranked by bkr' ).

Aganju: What a bizarre setting - why would anyone ever want that? As you say, it certainly shouldn't be the default. 

Carpe Diem: There is a selection "For games with a random start position generate" which has the (stupid) default "the same position with all opponents". As the start player is kind of the start position, leaving this default setting might just result in all games with the same player starting. I never tried, as I always chose the other setting.

Carpe Diem: If you create a single game, you can chose the color you play. For a tournament, I am not aware of such a possibility.

Carpe Diem: No one has any thoughts on this?

rod03801: Uh yeah, Rod, I know. I was the last person to post on that board about this very topic and there's not even a cricket chirping in there. I don't expect it to change. Technically, you can still win, but 9 out of 10 times, you're going to lose.

And the Frog Finder discussion board would be a bit better for this. If you go there you will see it has actually been discussed many times.

JerNYC: I think the rules say something that there is no frog in a specific spot ever, for that reason. Or something similar.

42: I wish Frog Finder would have an opening automove to prevent accidental opening kills that become a forced loss for that player.

MadMonkey: Youtube has changed its codes again. Some embedded codes still work (the older ones) and if you go to that video and copy the new code system it's missing the http plus other changes. I laid the working old code side by side to the current code (for the same video) and there are some minor changes. Apparently those changes don't work. I notice people are just posting links on the music board. OS i have tried with old & new embed code & neither works for me. I have even tried in my Fellowship, with nothing.

Any ideas ? has their code been changed again, or has BrainKing got a gremlin ?

There is an RSS button on the Branking page, and it shows what looks liek an RSS feed. How do I use that? I use Outlook, and I'm considering to connect this. How to do that? Does it work at all?

happyjuggler0: this time of the year is always the time of slow moving due to a couple of reasons:

- it is a week of days off for a lot of people and they might valye their time with friends more important than playing games online
- it is a week of days off for a lot of people and they might use it for a vacation and might not be able to be online
- it is the end of the year and everyone knows how many vacation days they still have left on this site, so they might decide to use them for not timing out, and use their time for other stuff in the real world

personally i usually am a slow mover during the weekends (spending time with kids and family), and am mover faster during the workweek (what else to do during breaks at work.. ;-))

personally i always try to keep it so that i always have at least 2 days till my next timeout and join only games with 3 days per move or more

personally i keep my vacation days for emergencies (as i needed them this summer) and in the end of the year might use the remainder to spend some time with family or do the stuff in my house which i have neglected too long

personally i never timed out in any game that i remember and i wont do so this year either

personally: if you want me to move faster, please let me know and i might speed up those specific games

personally i think it is as important to move fast, as it is to know which tournaments with which time control you join ..

I don't often contribute to this board, but I do often read what comes up. I've seen the arguments below and many similar to it in the past and have not said anything, but I will say something today.

It seems simple to me. every tournament has a time control. They have a time control and they have a standard vacation option and a weekend only option. Some times they use the clocks with no exceptions. If your time runs out and your vacation days run out, you forfeit the game. Until that happens, it is your time to do with as you please.

Maybe the problem lies not with people using up THEIR time, but with people signing up for tournaments that have liberal time controls. If you sign up for a tournament that is 5 day standard vacation and you are a relatively fast player, then expect to be kept waiting.

I'm not addressing this to anyone in particular. It's an open letter
