1) Christmas Special! Everybody who pays for any kind of membership (or extends the current one) and makes it to the end of this year (2004), will automatically get one FREE month of the same membership as a Christmas present.
2) And for the doubtful ones, there is one temptation - BrainKing brings the first multiplayer game which is accessible for paying members only. The number of participants is unlimited and the name is Run round the Pond.
3) The User Agreement has been improved in order to make it more understandable and clear.

when was it changed? I didn't see an announcement of a new user agreement, but maybe it was before I joined which is not so long ago

Because the previous one was too complicated in certain points and didn't cover all situations.

One more question: why "New" user agreement. When was it changed?

Thanks for steering me there Slamdance. I hadn't realized it'd been changed again. This Global Moderator job is new too. I think the site is starting to get big now. 12,000 members. That's lots. The last 2000 joined a lot faster then the first 2000. How's about a graph showing the membership growth over time, Fencer? Kind of like them charts showing the ratings of a player.

As for being a moderator, you really don't want the job. It ain't all it's cracked to be, though it does have its moments.

Some sort of ratings would be cool. At the least, some cool "stats" on the game would also be welcomed.

13. Decembro 2004, 22:19:03
Fencer
I mean rating points, of course.

13. Decembro 2004, 22:16:27
Fencer
There was a proposal of earning points based on your results. It's very simple - a number of total players divided by your final position in the game.

13. Decembro 2004, 22:16:11
coan.net
Plus other things to look at:

I believe you will be able to see what everyone else has left - so if you see someone for example only has 30 points left, you KNOW that all you will have to bet that time is 31 points to make it to the next round.

With THIS strategy - with so many people in the game, I believe this game will take a long time - but I believe this is basicly a "test" game to see how it does - I believe Fencer will start having other games with the limit of 20-25-50 players (or something like that.)

It will be interesting.

13. Decembro 2004, 22:12:16
coan.net
Well the bonus is only 500 points, so once it gets close to the end, and lets say everyone has around or below 500 points - if you are the highest, you can guess your max every time, win, and get 500 points and win the game.

... that hard part - get that far and still have the highest amount of points! :-)

aaaaaah thanks BBW, I understand now.
That was much easier than the rules page

13. Decembro 2004, 22:04:41
Czuch
But if you guess the highest and tie with someone else, nobody gets the bonus? For example I guess 20,000 and so does someone else, neither of us gets the bonus, and therefore have nothing left to guess in the next round, and be eliminated?

Also, after round 1, someone may have more left than anyone else, and be able to guess their maximum and be gauranteed a bonus for another round of guessing?

It sounds interesting. It doesnt sound like there really can be too many people, but it may take quite awhile anyway.

Modifita de coan.net (13. Decembro 2004, 21:58:23)
Basicly your goal is to guess 1 number higher then the lowest guessing player.

So if someone on Turn one guesses only "1", then anyone that guessed 2-20,000 will make it to the next round. (And then in the next round, the person who guessed 2 will have 19,998 points left - while everyone else will have less points to guess with.)

Plus I think there is a bonus of 500 for whoever guesses highest.

Now if someone will just tell me they are guessing 1, then i can guess 2 (and since I know they will lie to me and guess 3, I will guess 4 to counter-act their lie! Muhahahaha

[corected 5,000 to 500 bonus points]

13. Decembro 2004, 21:52:39
Czuch
So, is it that we determine how many "point" or whatever they are called to put into the pond, trying to put as few in as possible without being the person with the least amount in (or tied with the least amount)?

Then the person or persons with the least amount in gets eliminated, then do it all again with the remaining players? Something like that?

13. Decembro 2004, 18:21:22
grenv
Note that the time estimates are based on 2 days per move. However with vacations and the auto-vacation feature in particular, a few slow players could make this last a lot longer.

Perhaps as people start dying of old age it will speed up a bit!

Another possibility is to eliminate half of the players in each round. So, the number of rounds would be equal to log(N).
