Jim the Dandiest brought this idea to me, and after considering it for more than two hours, I think it's a great idea.  (Will someone please wrap JD's head so it won't get too big to get through the door? )

The idea is for us to have theme nights.  He suggested Bluegrass Tuesday, and in his honor, that's what it will be.  So, why don't we all shop around YouTube for some bluegrass tunes we would like to share, and put them up on Tuesday for everybody to listen to.

To kick things off, I found this little video of John Hartford on the banjer (as some of us southerners call the banjo) and Johnny Cash on the guitar on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.  Hartford explains a little of the history of the banjo, and they play a tribute to Bill Monroe.  Kick back, put up your feet, and tap your fingers along with this clip.

In addition to what Hartford said, my remembrance of the history of the banjo is that it was originallly used as a percussion instrument.  It was Earl Scruggs who first played music on it.  More than that, you will learn here.

So, without further ado, please enjoy the blue grass of Bill Monroe performed by John Hartford and Johnny Cash.
